The Saskatchewan Roughriders signed running back Darrell Henderson Jr. on Friday.
Darrell Henderson Jr. is five foot eight and weighs 208 pounds. The 28-year-old from Batesville, Mississippi, was drafted by the Los Angeles Rams in the third round (70th pick) of the 2019 NFL Draft.
He spent five seasons in Los Angeles with 442 carries for 1,854 yards, 15 rushing touchdowns, 76 catches for 577 yards, four touchdowns, three kick returns for 58 yards, and one tackle (1 solo) in 54 games. He also played in Super Bowl LVI against the Cincinnati Bengals with four carries for seven yards and three catches for 43 yards when the Rams beat the Bengals 23-20. He also had a brief stint with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Collegiately, Henderson Jr. spent three seasons at Memphis (2016-18) with 431 carries for 3,545 yards, 36 rushing touchdowns, completed 1 of 2 passes (50%) for four yards, one touchdown, 63 catches for 758 yards, eight touchdowns, 25 kick returns for 487 yards, one touchdown, and five tackles (4 solos, 1 assist) in 38 games for the Tigers.
In 2018, he was named First Team All-AAC, All-American, and the winner of the Jim Brown Award after finishing the season with a career-high 214 carries for 1,909 yards, 22 rushing touchdowns, completed 1 of 2 passes (50%) for four yards, one touchdown, 19 catches for 295 yards, three touchdowns, 10 kick returns for 124 yards, and one tackle (1 solo) in 13 games.
He was also named Second Team All-ACC in 2017. Henderson Jr. ended his collegiate career as the second-leading rusher in Memphis history with 3,082 career rushing yards, 31 rushing touchdowns, which is third in school history, and 40 total touchdowns, which is tied for second-most in program history. He is just one of three Tigers to have multiple 1,000-yard seasons and one of two to record back-to-back 200-yard rushing performances.
