The Louisville Kings signed defensive back Marquis Waters on Thursday according to the UFL Transactions page.

Marquis Waters is six foot one and weighs 215 pounds. The 27-year-old from Delray Beach, Florida, signed with the Massachusetts Pirates of the Indoor Football League on January 21, 2025. In 2025, he led the Pirates with 79 tackles (36 solos, 43 assists), 15 tackles for loss, 7.5 sacks, one interception, four pass breakups, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, one blocked kick, and one kick return for 16 yards in 14 games.

The New York Jets signed Waters as an undrafted free agent on May 5, 2023. In 2023, Waters made ten tackles (6 solos, 4 assists) in four preseason games. The Jets released him on August 29, 2023.

The Toronto Argonauts signed Waters as a free agent on January 8, 2024. In 2024, Waters made two tackles in one preseason game against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. He appeared in one regular-season game against the Edmonton Elks with one tackle and two tackles on special teams. The Argonauts released him on June 29, 2024.

Collegiately, Waters played four seasons at Duke (2017-20) with 234 tackles (148 solos, 86 assists), 13 tackles for loss, one sack, three interceptions for 27 yards, 21 pass breakups, one fumble recovery, and one blocked punt in 49 games for the Blue Devils.

In 2019, he had a career-high 73 tackles (47 solos, 26 assists), two tackles for loss, two interceptions for 17 yards, and nine pass breakups in 12 games. He was named a two-time Academic All-ACC selection.

Then, he transferred to Texas Tech (2021-22) with 69 tackles (46 solos, 23 assists), 14 tackles for loss, one sack, two interceptions for 83 yards, one touchdown, and three pass breakups in 17 games for the Red Raiders. In 2022, he made 60 tackles (41 solos, 19 assists), 13 tackles for loss, one sack, one interception for 11 yards, and two pass breakups in 13 games.
