Louisville Kings sign DL Lorenzo Mauldin IV and DB O’Donnell Fortune

The Louisville Kings signed defensive lineman Lorenzo Mauldin IV and defensive O’Donnell Fortune, and released wide receiver Dez Fitzpatrick and linebacker Dallas Gant on Wednesday according to the UFL Transactions page.

Lorenzo Mauldin IV is six foot four and weighs 259 pounds. The 33-year-old from Sacramento, California, re-signed with the Ottawa Redblacks on January 8, 2025. In 2025, Mauldin IV made 26 tackles and two sacks in 14 games. The Redblacks traded Mauldin IV to the Calgary Stampeders on September 28, 2025, for a 2026 fourth-round draft pick. He appeared in one game for the Stampeders.

The New York Jets drafted Mauldin IV in the third round (82nd pick) in the 2015 NFL Draft. Mauldin IV played two seasons with 33 tackles (20 solos, 13 assists), three tackles for loss, 6.5 sacks, one interception, two pass breakups, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery in 26 games. In 2017, he missed the season due to a back injury. In 2018, he made one tackle (1 assist) in four preseason games.

Collegiately, Mauldin IV played four seasons at Louisville (2011-14) with 114 tackles (77 solos, 37 assists), 33.5 tackles for loss, 21 sacks, eight pass breakups, and six forced fumbles in 47 games, of which 24 were starts for the Cardinals. In 2013, he was named Second-Team All-American Athletic Conference.

O’Donnell Fortune is six foot one and weighs 185 pounds. The 24-year-old from Sumter, South Carolina, signed with the New York Giants as an undrafted free agent on May 9, 2025. In 2025, he made six tackles (4 solos, 2 assists) and three pass breakups in three preseason games. The Giants released him on August 22, 2025.

Collegiately, Fortune spent five seasons at South Carolina (2020-24) with 108 tackles (88 solos, 20 assists), three tackles for loss, seven interceptions for 112 yards, one touchdown, nine pass breakups, two forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery in 44 games for the Gamecocks.

In 2024, he had a career-high 47 tackles (41 solos, 6 assists), two tackles for loss, three interceptions, three pass breakups, and one forced fumble in 13 games. He was named an All-SEC Honorable Mention by College Football Nation.

Dez Fitzpatrick is six foot two and weighs 208 pounds. The 29-year-old from Pontiac, Michigan, was drafted by the Louisville Kings in the 2026 UFL Draft.

The Tennessee Titans drafted Fitzpatrick in the fourth round (109th pick) of the 2021 NFL Draft. He also spent time with the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Los Angeles Chargers. Fitzpatrick made five catches for 49 yards, one touchdown, and one tackle (1 solo) in seven career games. The Los Angeles Chargers signed Fitzpatrick on January 13, 2025. In 2017, he made a career-high 45 catches for 699 yards and nine touchdowns in nine games. In 2020, he made 43 catches for 833 yards, three touchdowns, and three tackles (2 solos, 1 assist) in 11 games.

Dallas Gant is six foot two and weighs 224 pounds. The 25-year-old from Toledo, Ohio, was drafted by the Louisville Kings in the 2026 UFL Draft.

The D.C. Defenders drafted Gant in the seventh round (52nd pick) of the 2024 UFL College Draft. The Minnesota Vikings signed Gant as an undrafted free agent on May 10, 2024. In 2024, he made 21 tackles (17 solos, 4 assists) and one pass breakup in three preseason games. The Vikings released him on August 27, 2024, and re-signed him to the practice squad the next day. The Vikings released him again on October 29, 2024.

The Philadelphia Eagles signed Gant to the practice squad on November 4, 2024. He appeared in two games with one tackle (1 solo). The Eagles re-signed him on February 14, 2025. In 2025, he made 11 tackles (8 solos, 3 assists) and one pass breakup in three preseason games. The Eagles released him on August 26, 2025.

Collegiately, Gant spent four seasons at Ohio State (2018-21) with 54 tackles (25 solos, 29 assists), 3.5 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, one pass breakup, two forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery in 36 games for the Buckeyes. He was named a two-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree.

Then, he transferred to Toledo (2022-23) with 233 tackles (101 solos, 132 assists), 14.5 tackles for loss, one sack, one interception, eight pass breakups, and three forced fumbles in 28 games for the Rockets. In 2023, he had a career-high 117 tackles (51 solos, 66 assists), nine tackles for loss, one sack, one interception, three pass breakups, and one forced fumble in 14 games. He was named a two-time First Team All-MAC.
