The Saskatchewan Roughriders signed running back Peny Boone and wide receivers Freddie Swain and Juwann Winfree on Tuesday.

Peny Boone is six foot one and weighs 232 pounds. The 23-year-old from Detroit, Michigan, attended the Carolina Panthers rookie minicamp in 2025. The Toronto Argonauts signed Boone to the practice squad on August 5, 2025. The Argonauts released him on October 25, 2025.

Collegiately, Boone played two seasons at Maryland (2020-21) with 58 carries for 258 yards, two rushing touchdowns, five catches for 23 yards, and one tackle (1 solo) in 14 games for the Terrapins. Next, he transferred to Toledo (2022-23) with 310 carries for 1,843 yards, 18 rushing touchdowns, 25 catches for 303 yards, one touchdown, and one tackle (1 solo) in 26 games for the Rockets.

He was named First Team All-MAC and Offensive Player of the Year in 2023. That season, he had 194 yards for 1,400 yards, 15 rushing touchdowns, 15 catches for 219 yards, one touchdown, and one tackle (1 solo) in 13 games.

Then, Boone transferred to Louisville. However, he re-entered the transfer portal and went to the University of Central Florida in 2024. In 2024, he had 34 carries for 208 yards, two rushing touchdowns, and one catch for nine yards in six games for the Knights.

Freddie Swain is six foot and weighs 199 pounds. The 27-year-old from Ocala, Florida, was drafted by the Seattle Seahawks in the sixth round (214th pick) of the 2020 NFL Draft. He spent two seasons in Seattle with 38 catches for 502 yards, six touchdowns, five carries for 32 yards, six kick returns for 137 yards, 22 punt returns for 189 yards, and two tackles (2 solos) in 33 games. The Seahawks released him on August 30, 2022.

Swain went on to spend time with the Miami Dolphins, Denver Broncos, Philadelphia Eagles, and the Chicago Bears. In 2022, he spent time with Miami and Denver. In Miami, he appeared in one regular-season game, and in Denver made four catches for 74 yards in three games.

The Chicago Bears signed Swain on May 13, 2024. In 2024, he made three catches for 30 yards in three preseason games. The Bears released him on August 23, 2024.

Collegiately, Swain spent four seasons at Florida (2016-19) with 68 catches for 996 yards, 15 touchdowns, four carries for 27 yards, four kick returns for 56 yards, 39 punt returns for 308 yards, one touchdown, and two tackles (2 solos) in 47 games for the Gators.

Juwann Winfree is six foot one and weighs 210 pounds. The 29-year-old from Manhattan, New York, was drafted by the Denver Broncos in the sixth round (187th pick) of the 2019 NFL Draft. He also spent time with the Green Bay Packers, the Indianapolis Colts, and the Houston Texans.

Winfree made nine catches for 75 yards in 23-career NFL games. The Houston Texans signed Winfree on August 19, 2025. In 2025, he made one catch for 26 yards in one preseason game. The Texans released him on September 1, 2025.

Collegiately, Winfree spent one season at Maryland in 2014 with 11 catches for 158 yards and two touchdowns in eight games for the Terrapins. Next, he transferred to Coffeyville Community College in 2015 with 55 catches for 837 yards, seven touchdowns, two carries for 14 yards, and one tackle (1 assist) in 10 games for the Ravens.

Then, he transferred to Colorado (2017-18) with 49 catches for 649 yards, four touchdowns, and two tackles (2 assists) in 20 games for the Buffaloes.
