The Houston Gamblers signed defensive end Kenny Dyson and released defensive back LaMareon James on Saturday according to the UFL Transactions page.
Kenny Dyson Jr. is six foot three and weighs 235 pounds. The 24-year-old from Stamford, Connecticut, signed with the Carolina Panthers as an undrafted free agent on May 10, 2024. In 2024, he made three tackles (2 solos, 1 assist) in two preseason games. In the regular season, Dyson Jr. made two tackles (1 solo, 1 assist) in two games. The Panthers re-signed him on January 6, 2025, and released him on May 9, 2025.
Collegiately, Dyson Jr. spent five seasons at Bryant University (2019-23) with 104 tackles (69 solos, 35 assists), 33.5 tackles for loss, 24.5 sacks, one interception, six pass breakups, and three forced fumbles in 44 games for the Bulldogs.
In 2024, he made a career-high 36 tackles (28 solos, 8 assists), 10.5 tackles for loss, nine sacks, one interception, five pass breakups, and two forced fumbles in 11 games. He was named a Second Team All-NEC in 2021, New England Football Writers All-New England Team in 2023, First Team All-Big South in 2022, and First Team All-OVC in 2024.
LaMareon James is five foot ten and weighs 192 pounds. The 25-year-old from Norfolk, Virginia, was drafted by the Houston Gamblers in the 2026 UFL Draft.
The Cleveland Browns signed James as an undrafted free agent on May 9, 2025. In 2025, he made five tackles (4 solos, 1 assist) and one pass breakup in two preseason games. The Browns released him on August 26, 2025, and re-signed him to the practice squad the next day. The Browns released him again on September 16, 2025, and the New York Giants signed James to the practice squad on September 17, 2025. The Giants released him on October 23, 2025.
Collegiately, James spent three seasons at Old Dominion (2021-23) with 86 tackles (55 solos, 31 assists), half a tackle for loss, two interceptions for 66 yards, one touchdown, 10 pass breakups, two forced fumbles, four fumble recoveries, one touchdown, 58 kick returns for 1,346 yards, and two touchdowns in 38 games for the Monarchs.
In 2023, he made a career-high 59 tackles (39 solos, 20 assists), half a tackle for loss, one interception for 66 yards, one touchdown, nine pass breakups, two forced fumbles, four fumble recoveries, one touchdown, and 20 kick returns for 392 yards in 13 games. He was named Second Team All-Conference USA by Phil Steele and Conference USA Honorable Mention in 2021, Fourth Team All-Sun Belt Conference in 2022, and Sun Belt Honorable Mention in 2023.
Then, James transferred to TCU in 2024 with 14 tackles (7 solos, 7 assists) and eight pass breakups in five games for the Horned Frogs.
