The D.C. Defenders signed wide receiver Erik Ezukanma and offensive lineman Trey Wedig on Saturday according to the UFL Transactions page.
Erik Ezukanma is six foot one and weighs 210 pounds. The 26-year-old from Fort Worth, Texas, was drafted by the Miami Dolphins in the fourth round (125th pick) in the 2022 NFL Draft. He played four seasons in Miami with one catch for three yards and five carries for 22 yards in five games.
In 2025, he made six catches for 45 yards and one kick return for 37 yards in three preseason games. The Dolphins released him on August 26, 2025. The Jacksonville Jaguars signed Ezukanma to the practice squad on August 28, 2025. They released him on October 7, 2025.
Collegiately, Ezukanma spent four seasons at Texas Tech (2018-21) with 138 catches for 2,165 yards, 15 touchdowns, 10 carries for 138 yards, two rushing touchdowns, and two tackles (2 solos) in 35 games for the Red Raiders. He was named Second Team All-Big 12 in 2021 and First Team All-Big 12 in 2020.
Trey Wedig is six foot six and weighs 310 pounds. The 24-year-old from Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, signed with the Los Angeles Rams as an undrafted free agent on May 12, 2025. In 2025, he played in three preseason games. The Rams released him on August 24, 2025. The Arizona Cardinals signed Wedig to the practice squad on November 19, 2025. They released him on December 16, 2025.
Collegiately, Wedig spent four seasons at Wisconsin (2020-23), playing right tackle, right guard, and left guard in 32 games for the Badgers. In 2023, he played both right guard and left guard in 12 games. Wisconsin averaged 23.5 points per game, 380.5 yards per game, 220.1 passing yards per game, 160.5 rushing yards per game, and 37 touchdowns. He was named a two-time Academic All-Big Ten.
Then, he transferred to Indiana in 2024, starting right tackle in 13 games for the Hoosiers. Indiana averaged 41.3 points per game, 426.4 yards per game, 261.3 passing yards per game, 165.1 rushing yards per game, and 72 touchdowns. The Hoosiers finished 11-1 for the season and appeared in the first round of the College Football Playoff against Notre Dame.
