Louisville Kings release DE Benning Potoa’e, four others

The Louisville Kings released defensive lineman Benning Potoa’e and Myjai Sanders, linebacker Shayne Simon, and defensive backs Isaiah Bolden and Quindell Johnson on Friday according to the UFL Transactions page.

Benning Potoa’e is six foot three and weighs 290 pounds. The 29-year-old from DuPont, Washington, signed with the Michigan Panthers on May 13, 2025. In 2025, he made six tackles (4 solos, 2 assists) and one sack in three games. The Panthers re-signed Potoa’e on July 4, 2025. Then, Michigan’s roster was transferred to Louisville.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers signed Potoa’e as an undrafted free agent on May 4, 2020. He was on the practice squad when Tampa Bay won Super Bowl LV. Tampa Bay released him on August 30, 2022. The Washington Commanders signed him on September 13, 2022.

Potoa’e played five career games with six tackles (2 solos, 4 assists) and one tackle for loss. In 2024, he made three tackles (2 solos, 1 assist) and one sack in three preseason games. The Commanders released him on August 17, 2024.

Collegiately, Potoa’e played four seasons at Washington (2016-19) with 117 tackles (70 solos, 47 assists), 20.5 tackles for loss, 8.5 sacks, and three forced fumbles in 53 games for the Huskies.

Myjai Sanders is six foot five and weighs 248 pounds. The 27-year-old from Jacksonville, Florida, signed with the Birmingham Stallions on December 30, 2024. In 2025, he made 20 tackles (12 solos, 8 assists), four tackles for loss, two sacks, and three pass breakups in nine games. In the UFL playoffs, he made six tackles (3 solos, 3 assists). The Louisville Kings drafted Sanders in the 2026 UFL Draft.

The Arizona Cardinals drafted Sanders in the third round (100th pick) of the 2022 NFL Draft. In 2022, Sanders made 23 tackles (17 solos, 6 assists), three tackles for loss, three sacks, three pass breakups, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery in 13 games.

In 2023, he suffered a hand injury and did not play in the preseason. The Cardinals released him on October 17, 2023. The Houston Texans acquired him via waivers on October 18, 2023. He made seven tackles (4 solos, 3 assists) and one tackle for loss in seven games. The Texans released him on April 29, 2024.

Collegiately, Sanders played four seasons at Cincinnati (2018-21) with 115 tackles (60 solos, 55 assists), 25 tackles for loss, 13.5 sacks, 13 pass breakups, one forced fumble, two fumble recoveries, and one kick return for 18 yards in 48 games for the Bearcats. He was named a two-time First Team All-AAC. 

Shayne Simon is six foot three and weighs 235 pounds. The 25-year-old from West Orange, New Jersey, signed with the D.C. Defenders on December 4, 2024. In 2025, he made 17 tackles (10 solos, 7 assists), one fumble recovery, and two pass breakups in 10 games. In the UFL playoffs, he made two tackles (1 solo, 1 assist) when the Defenders won the UFL Championship over the Michigan Panthers.

The Buffalo Bills signed Simon as an undrafted free agent on June 4, 2024. In 2024, Simon made three tackles (3 solos) in two preseason games. The Bills released him on August 26, 2024.

Collegiately, Simon played four seasons at Notre Dame (2018-21) with 27 tackles (13 solos, 14 assists), three tackles for loss, and five pass breakups in 31 games, of which eight were starts for the Fighting Irish.

Then, Simon transferred to Pittsburgh (2022-23) with 94 tackles (52 solos, 42 assists), 13 tackles for loss, seven sacks, eight pass breakups, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery in 25 games for the Panthers.

Isaiah Bolden is six foot two and weighs 205 pounds. The 26-year-old from Tampa, Florida, was drafted by the Louisville Kings in the 2026 UFL Draft.

The New England Patriots drafted Bolden in the seventh round (245th pick) of the 2023 NFL Draft. He spent three seasons in New England with 10 tackles (7 solos, 3 assists), one sack, two pass breakups, and two kick returns for 48 yards in 10 preseason games.

In 2024, he made 10 tackles (7 solos, 3 assists), one tackle for loss, and one fumble recovery in 14 regular-season games. The Patriots released him on August 22, 2025. The San Francisco 49ers signed Bolden on December 10, 2025. They released him on December 16, 2025.

Collegiately, Bolden spent two seasons at Florida State (2018-19) with nine tackles (5 solos, 4 assists), one interception for four yards, six kick returns for 156 yards, and one punt return for seven yards in 14 games for the Seminoles.

Then, he transferred to Jackson State University (2020-22) with 55 tackles (38 solos, 17 assists), 2.5 tackles for loss, eight pass breakups, one fumble recovery, 26 kick returns for 851 yards, two touchdowns, and eight punt returns for 130 yards in 26 games for the Tigers.

Quindell Johnson is six foot and weighs 208 pounds. The 26-year-old from New Orleans, Louisiana, was drafted by the Louisville Kings in the 2026 UFL Draft.

The Los Angeles Rams signed Johnson as an undrafted free agent on May 2, 2023. He also spent time with the Chicago Bears, San Francisco 49ers, and the Pittsburgh Steelers. Johnson made 29 tackles (21 solos, 8 assists), one sack, and one pass breakup in 10 preseason games. He also played in nine regular-season games for the Chicago Bears in 2023 with three tackles (2 solos, 1 assist) and one pass breakup. The Pittsburgh Steelers signed Johnson on June 5, 2025. In 2025, he made 10 tackles (8 solos, 2 assists) in three preseason games. The Steelers released him on August 22, 2025.

Collegiately, Johnson spent five seasons at Memphis (2018-22) with 321 tackles (226 solos, 95 assists), 15.5 tackles for loss, one sack, 10 interceptions for 64 yards, 24 pass breakups, four forced fumbles, and three fumble recoveries in 50 games for the Tigers. He was named Second Team All-AAC in 2021 and First Team All-ACC in 2022.
