The Winnipeg Blue Bombers signed linebacker Aaron Smith on Thursday according to the CFL Transactions page.
Aaron Smith is six foot two and weighs 230 pounds. A native of Manning, South Carolina, Smith signed with the New York Jets as an undrafted free agent on May 9, 2025. In 2025, he made four tackles (3 solos, 1 assist) and one pass breakup in three preseason games. The Jets released him on September 1, 2025.
Collegiately, Smith spent five seasons at South Carolina State (2020-24) with 241 tackles (159 solos, 82 assists), 52 tackles for loss, 11.5 sacks, two interceptions, two pass breakups, one forced fumble, and two fumble recoveries in 45 games for the Bulldogs.
In 2024, he was named First Team All-MEAC after finishing the season with 95 tackles (53 solos, 42 assists), 8.5 tackles for loss, half a sack, one interception, two pass breakups, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery in 10 games. He participated in the 2025 East-West Shrine Bowl. He was also named Second Team All-MEAC in 2023.
