The Saskatchewan Roughriders signed kicker Jonathan Kim on Thursday.

Jonathan Kim is six foot and weighs 227 pounds. The 24-year-old from Fredericksburg, Virginia, signed with the Chicago Bears as an undrafted free agent on May 9, 2025. In 2025, he had three kickoffs for 180 yards (60 AVG) and made two extra points in one preseason game. The Bears released him on August 12, 2025.

Collegiately, Kim spent four seasons at North Carolina (2019-22) with 237 kickoffs for 15,129 yards (63.8 AVG), 188 touchbacks, making two extra points, and four tackles (4 solos) in 35 games for the Tar Heels.

Then, he transferred to Michigan State (2023-24) with 94 kickoffs for 5,913 yards (62.9 AVG), making 32 of 39 field goals (82.1%) with a long of 58 yards, making 39 of 41 extra points, and one tackle (1 solo) in 24 games for the Spartans.

In 2023, he had 42 kickoffs for 2,672 yards (63.6 AVG), 28 touchbacks, making 13 of 18 field goals (72.2%) with a long of 58 yards in 12 games. He made four field goals of at least 50 yards. At Kinnick Stadium, home of the Iowa Hawkeyes, he made a 58-yard field goal, which was the longest in that stadium’s history.

In 2024, he was named Second Team All-Big 10 after finishing the season with 52 kickoffs for 3,241 yards (62.3 AVG), 30 touchbacks, making 19 of 21 field goals (90.5%) with a long of 55 yards, and one tackle in 12 games.
