The Columbus Aviators are set to sign defensive back Shon Stephens on Thursday according to UFL Analyst.
Shon Stephens is five foot ten and weighs 175 pounds. The 27-year-old from Bakersfield, California, had signed with the Memphis Showboats on August 14, 2025. The Showboats were relocated to Louisville, and Stephens was not drafted in the 2026 UFL Draft.
The Philadelphia Eagles signed Stephens as an undrafted free agent on May 13, 2024. In 2024, he made one tackle (1 solo) in two preseason games. The Eagles released him on August 27, 2024. The Calgary Stampeders signed Stephens on March 19, 2025. In 2025, he made four tackles in two preseason games. The Stampeders released him on May 31, 2025.
Collegiately, Stephens played two seasons at Bakersfield College (2017-18) with 34 tackles (28 solos, 6 assists), 1.5 tackles for loss, and two pass breakups in 13 games for the Renegades.
Then, he transferred to West Liberty University in 2022 with 37 tackles (34 solos, 3 assists), three tackles for loss, eight interceptions for 148 yards, two touchdowns, 14 pass breakups, 30 kick returns for 651 yards, and two punt returns for 16 yards in 11 games for the Hilltoppers. He was named First Team All-Mountain East Conference.
Then, he transferred to Ferris State in 2023 with 25 tackles (19 solos, 6 assists), 1.5 tackles for loss, eight interceptions for 63 yards, four pass breakups, two kick returns for 137 yards, and one touchdown in 11 games for the Bulldogs. He was named First Team All-GLIAC and the GLIAC Defensive Player of the Year.
