The Ottawa Redblacks signed wide receiver Cade McDonald on Thursday according to the CFL Transactions page.

Cade McDonald is five foot ten and weighs 196 pounds. The 24-year-old from Naperville, Illinois, signed with the Cleveland Browns as an undrafted free agent on May 12, 2025. In 2025, he made two catches for 11 yards and one tackle (1 solo) in three preseason games. The Browns released him on October 21, 2025.

Collegiately, McDonald spent four seasons at Michigan State (2019-22) with five catches for 46 yards, five punt returns for 43 yards, and one tackle (1 solo) in 20 games for the Spartans. He was a three-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree.

Then, he transferred to Miami (OH) (2023-24) with 80 catches for 986 yards, six touchdowns, three carries for 15 yards, 32 punt returns for 311 yards, and one tackle (1 solo) in 25 games for the Redhawks. In 2024, he made a career-high 52 catches for 631 yards, three touchdowns, one carry for seven yards, and 14 punt returns for 82 yards in 12 games.

McDonald was named Second Team All-MAC in 2023, and Academic All-MAC and Miami’s Offensive Skill Player of the Year in 2024.
