The Montreal Alouettes announced their coaching and football operations staff for the 2026 season on Wednesday. Anthony Calvillo will now call the plays, while the team added A.J. Gass as the new linebackers and Domenic Manno as the team’s new offensive assistant.
A.J. Gass is 50 years old from Bellflower, California. He was recently with the University of Alberta as the team’s defensive coordinator. Gass previously spent time with Edmonton as a defensive assistant (2008-09) and special teams coordinator (2019-20). In his first stint, Gass worked with now General Manager Danny Maciocia.
In addition, Gass spent nine seasons as a high school head coach at Servite High School and Garces Memorial High School. As a player, he spent 10 seasons with the Edmonton Eskimos, winning two Grey Cup championships in 2003 and 2005.
He was named a four-time All-CFL Team. Gass made 440 tackles, 92 tackles on special teams, 13 pass knockdowns, 12 sacks, eight forced fumbles, 11 fumble recoveries, 22 tackles for losses, and interceptions in 131 games. In college, Gass played at Fresno State (1993-97), where he was twice named First Team All-Conference.
Domenic Manno is from St-Leonard, Quebec, where he began as an equipment assistant for the Alouettes in 2021, and became a head of the department one year later. In college, he played fullback and tight end in four seasons at Bishop’s University (2017-19) with six catches for 44 yards, one kick return for seven yards, and two tackles (2 solos) in 19 games for the Gaiters.

On the operations side, Bianca Maciocia will be the team’s coordinator of football operations and team services. She joined the Alouettes in February 2025 after serving as a football operations assistant. She previously completed an internship with the Alouettes in 2023 and worked for five years in football operations with the University of Montreal. She is the daughter of general manager Danny Maciocia.
Garlins Duclervil is from Montreal, where he was a guest at the team’s training camp through the CFL’s Diversity in Football Program. In college, he played defensive lineman at the University of Montreal (2007-11) and was a defensive line coach for the Carabins from 2014 to 2020. He worked with Maciocia both as a player and coach.
