Report: Ottawa Redblacks to sign linebacker C.J. Reavis, two others

The Ottawa Redblacks are set to sign defensive lineman Habakkuk Baldonado, linebacker C.J. Reavis, and defensive back Demerio Houston on Sunday according to Justin Dunk and Dan Ralph. Players can officially sign with their new teams on February 10, 2026.

Habakkuk Baldonado is six foot five and weighs 260 pounds. The 26-year-old from Rome, Italy, made 17 tackles, one tackle for loss, four sacks, and one forced fumble in 18 games for the Roughriders in 2025, helping the Roughriders win the 112th Grey Cup over the Montreal Alouettes.

The Saskatchewan Roughriders drafted Baldonado in the second round (12th pick) of the 2023 CFL Global Draft. The New York Giants signed Baldonado as an undrafted free agent on May 5, 2023. In 2023, he made five tackles (1 solo, 4 assists), one sack, and one pass breakup in three preseason games.

In the Grey Cup playoffs, he made seven tackles, helping the Roughriders win the 112th Grey Cup over the Montreal Alouettes.

The Jacksonville Jaguars signed Reavis as an undrafted free agent on April 30, 2018. In 2018, he made nine tackles (9 solos) in four preseason games. In the regular season, he made one tackle (1 solo) in four games. In 2019, he made 18 tackles (15 solos, 3 assists) and one pass breakup in four preseason games. The Jaguars released him on August 31, 2019. The Atlanta Falcons signed Reavis on November 5, 2019. They released him on December 30, 2019.

The Saskatchewan Roughriders signed Reavis on April 1, 2022. In 2022, Reavis made four tackles on special teams in four games. In 2023, he made 59 tackles, six tackles on special teams, three sacks, one interception, and three forced fumbles in 17 games. In 20245, he made 89 tackles, one tackle on special teams, four sacks, and one forced fumble in 17 games. He was named to the All-CFL Team and a CFL West All-Star.

Collegiately, Reavis played one season at Virginia Tech in 2014 with eight tackles (4 solos, 4 assists), half a tackle for loss, one forced fumble, and one blocked punt in 12 games for the Hokies. Next, he transferred to East Mississippi in 2015 with 40 tackles (33 solos, 7 assists), one tackle for loss, two interceptions for 29 yards, eight pass breakups, and one blocked punt in nine games for the Lions.

Then, Reavis transferred to Marshall University (2016-17) with 123 tackles (64 solos, 59 assists), five tackles for loss, one interception, five pass breakups, and one fumble recovery in 20 games for the Thundering Herd.

Demerio Houston is five foot ten and weighs 173 pounds. The 29-year-old from Shelby, North Carolina, signed with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on August 17, 2025. In 2025, he made 17 tackles in five games. In the Eastern Semi-Final against the Montreal Alouettes, he made four tackles.

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers signed Houston as a free agent on October 22, 2019. He played three seasons with 84 tackles, three tackles on special teams, nine interceptions, and one touchdown in 30 games. In 2023, he made 50 tackles, seven interceptions, and one touchdown in 15 games. He was named a CFL West All-Star and CFL All-Star after the season.

The Calgary Stampeders signed Houston on February 6, 2024. In 2024, he made 74 tackles, one sack, five interceptions, and one forced fumble in 15 games. The Stampeders released him on February 12, 2025.

Collegiately, Houston played four seasons at Southern University (2015-18) with 114 tackles (77 solos, 37 assists), five interceptions for 142 yards, seven punt returns for 206 yards, and one touchdown in 43 games for the Jaguars.
