The Hamilton Tiger-Cats re-signed defensive back Destin Talbert to a two-year contract extension through the 2027 season on Friday.

Destin Talbert is six foot and weighs 186 pounds. The 26-year-old from Darien, Illinois, made 55 tackles, three tackles on special teams, and three interceptions in 18 games.

Talbert attended the Chicago Bears and New Orleans Saints rookie minicamps in 2023. The Seattle Sea Dragons of the XFL drafted him in the 2023 Rookie Draft. He had signed a letter of intent to play for Seattle, but the XFL and USFL merged into the UFL. Seattle was not included in the merger, and Talbert became a free agent.

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats signed Talbert on January 22, 2024. In 2024, he made 58 tackles, two interceptions, and one touchdown in 18 games.

Collegiately, Talbert played five seasons at North Dakota State (2018-22) with 144 tackles (104 solos, 40 assists), three tackles for loss, four interceptions for 39 yards, 25 pass breakups, and two forced fumbles in 67 games for the Bisons. During his time at North Dakota State, the Bisons won three FCS National Championships.
