The Edmonton Elks released quarterback Tre Ford on Friday.
Tre Ford is six foot one and weighs 185 pounds. The 27-year-old from Niagara Falls, Ontario, re-signed with the Edmonton Elks on December 6, 2024. In 2025, he completed 82 of 121 passes (67.8%) for 984 yards, five touchdowns, three interceptions, 16 carries for 152 yards, and one rushing touchdown in 18 games, of which five were starts.
The Edmonton Elks drafted Ford in the first round (8th pick) of the 2022 CFL Draft. In his rookie season, Ford completed 40 of 69 passes (58%) for 461 yards, two touchdowns, five interceptions, and three carries for 19 yards in ten games, of which three were starts, before a shoulder injury sidelined him, and he would later return as Cornelius’s backup.
In 2023, Ford completed 153 of 227 passes (69.2%) for 2,069 yards, 12 touchdowns, six interceptions, 66 carries for 622 yards, and three touchdowns in ten games. He took over the starting job from Taylor Cornelius and led them to four wins.
In 2024, Ford completed 84 of 117 passes (71.8%) for 1,137 yards, 10 touchdowns, five interceptions, and 23 carries for 206 yards in 16 games, of which four were starts.
Collegiately, Ford played four seasons at the University of Waterloo (2017-19, 2021), completing 597 of 863 passes (69.2%) for 8,003 yards, 64 touchdowns, 22 interceptions, 310 carries for 2,816 yards, 19 touchdowns, seven punts for 366 yards, with a long of 81 yards, three from inside the 20-yard line, four from 50-plus yards, and four punt returns for 49 yards in 33 games for the Warriors.
He earned the Peter Gorman Trophy in 2017, Hec Crighton Trophy in 2021, Lois and Doug Mitchell Award in 2022, and was named First Team All-Canadian in 2021 and Second Team All-Canadian in 2019.
