The Birmingham Stallions re-signed quarterback Michael Heirs and signed defensive tackle Isaiah Coe on Thursday according to the UFL Transactions page. The team also released defensive tackle Omari Thomas.
Michael Hiers is six foot one and weighs 215 pounds. The 26-year-old from Birmingham, Alabama, re-signed with the Saskatchewan Roughriders on October 16, 2024. He attended training camp before the team released him on May 10, 2025.
Hiers attended the Tampa Bay Buccaneers rookie minicamp in 2024. The Saskatchewan Roughriders signed Hiers on September 17, 2024, and spent a month on the practice squad. The Roughriders released him on October 13, 2024.
Collegiately, Hiers played one season at Murray State in 2019, completing one pass for four yards and three carries for 19 yards in two games for the Racers. Next, he transferred to Northwest Mississippi Community College (2020-21), completing 306 of 469 passes (65%) for 4,519 yards, 34 touchdowns, 5 interceptions, 72 carries for -23 yards, and six touchdowns in 18 games for the Rangers.
He was named First Team All-American by JCGridiron.com, a two-time First Team All-MACCC, All-Mississippi Gridiron MVP, and the co-MACCC Offensive Player of the Year.
Then, Hiers transferred to Samford (2022-23), completing 668 of 903 passes (74%) for 6,600 yards, 54 touchdowns, 12 interceptions, 182 carries for 97 yards, six touchdowns, and two tackles (1 solo, 1 assist) in 24 games for the Bulldogs.
In 2023, Hiers completed 315 of 442 passes (71%) for 3,056 yards, 18 touchdowns, 8 interceptions, 73 carries for -66 yards, and three touchdowns. He helped the Bulldogs win their first SoCon title in school history and reach the FCS playoffs for the first time since 1991.
He was named Second Team All-American by AP, Third Team All-American by STATS, First Team All-Southern Conference, and Second Team All-Southern Conference. Hiers ranked in the top 10 nationally in completion percentage (76.6%/1st), completions per game (27.15/3rd), passing efficiency (165.2/8th), passing touchdowns (36/4th), and passing yards (3,544/6th).
Isaiah Coe is six foot two and weighs 311 pounds. A native of Homewood, Illinois, Coe attended the Indianapolis Colts rookie minicamp in 2024. The St. Louis Battlehawks drafted Coe in the sixth round (45th pick) in the 2024 UFL College Draft.
The Battlehawks signed Coe on October 3, 2024. He attended training camp before the team released him on March 1, 2025. Coe joined the Arizona Rattlers in 2025 with 42 tackles (15 solos, 27 assists), eight tackles for loss, four sacks, two pass breakups, and one blocked kick in 16 games.
Collegiately, Coe played one season at Iowa Western Community College in 2019 with 37 tackles (23 solos, 14 assists), 13 tackles for loss, 6.5 sacks, and two forced fumbles in 10 games for the Reivers.
Then, Coe transferred to Oklahoma (2021-23) with 55 tackles (18 solos, 37 assists), 15 tackles for loss, three sacks, and one blocked kick in 37 games for the Sooners.
Omari Thomas is six foot four and weighs 325 pounds. The 25-year-old from Memphis, Tennessee, signed with the New Orleans Saints as an undrafted free agent on May 9, 2025. In 2025, he made one tackle (1 solo) in three preseason games. The Saints released him on August 25, 2025. The Birmingham Stallions drafted Thomas in the 2026 UFL Draft.
Collegiately, Thomas spent five seasons at Tennessee (2020-24) with 115 tackles (61 solos, 54 assists), 17 tackles for loss, five sacks, 12 pass breakups, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, and one blocked kick in 61 games for the Volunteers.
In 2023, he made a career-high 35 tackles (19 solos, 16 assists), 4.5 tackles for loss, one sack, one pass breakup, and one blocked kick in 12 games. In 2024, he made 23 tackles (13 solos, 10 assists), six tackles for loss, one sack, and three pass breakups in 13 games.
