The Ottawa Redblacks signed defensive lineman Josh Pearcy on Tuesday according to the CFL Transactions page.
Josh Pearcy is six foot two and weighs 245 pounds. A native of Morristown, New Jersey, Pearcy signed with the Los Angeles Rams as an undrafted free agent on May 12, 2025. In 2025, he made five tackles (3 solos, 2 assists) in three preseason games. The Rams released him on August 24, 2025.
Collegiately, Pearcy spent six seasons at Rice University (2019-24) with 210 tackles (102 solos, 108 assists), 33 tackles for loss, 16 sacks, one interception, three pass breakups, three forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery in 54 games for the Owls.
In 2021, he had a career-high 58 tackles (23 solos, 35 assists), seven tackles for loss, four sacks, and one forced fumble in 12 games. In 2023, Pearcy was named Third Team All-AAC by Phil Steele after finishing the season with 44 tackles (30 solos, 14 assists), seven tackles for loss, one sack, one pass breakup, and one forced fumble in 12 games.
In his final collegiate season, Pearcy won the Jess Neely Defensive Award after finishing the season with 42 tackles (21 solos, 21 assists), six tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, one pass breakup, and one fumble recovery in 12 games.
Pearcy attended Moorestown High School, where he was named to the All-South Jersey, All-Burlington County, and All-West Jersey Football League teams. In his senior season, he made eight sacks, 12 tackles for loss, four forced fumbles, and scored six touchdowns.
In his junior season, he was named Defensive MVP after finishing the season with 30 tackles for loss, five forced fumbles, four interceptions, and scored 20 touchdowns in his career. In addition to football, Pearcy competed in track & field, where he was a member of Moorestown’s sprint medley relay that was fourth at the 2017 New Balance Nationals.
