Louisville Kings sign WR Carter Bell, release two

The Louisville Kings signed wide receiver Carter Bell and released tight end Irv Smith Jr. and defensive end Jamir Jones on Tuesday according to the UFL Transactions page.

Carter Bell is five foot eleven and weighs 180 pounds. A native of Bettendorf, Iowa, Bell attended the UFL Showcase in 2025.

Collegiately, Bell spent six seasons at South Dakota (2019-24) with 193 catches for 2,970 yards, 20 touchdowns, 11 carries for 70 yards, one rushing touchdown, completed one pass for 30 yards, six kick returns for 107 yards, 49 punt returns for 495 yards, two touchdowns, and four tackles (4 solos) in 58 games for the Coyotes.

In 2023, he made 52 catches for 908 yards, five touchdowns, one carry for three yards, seven punt returns for 60 yards, and two tackles (2 solos) in 13 games. In his final collegiate season, Bell made 53 catches for 806 yards, four touchdowns, 10 carries for 67 yards, one rushing touchdown, completed one pass for 30 yards, 13 punt returns for 124 yards, and one touchdown in 14 games. Bell was named a four-time All-MVFC Honorable Mention and Second Team All-MVFC.

Bell attended Bettendorf High School, where he was a four-sport athlete. He earned First Team All-State Honors for his quarterback play in his senior season. He compiled 2,824 yards and 1,604 rushing yards, and combined for 56 touchdowns (29 pass, 27 rush). He was named District Player of the Year and Quad Cities All-Metro Player of the Year in his junior year.

Irv Smith Jr. is six foot two and weighs 240 pounds. The 27-year-old from New Orleans, Louisiana, was drafted by the Louisville Kings in the 2026 UFL Draft.

The Minnesota Vikings drafted Smith in the second round (50th pick) in the 2019 NFL Draft. He also had stints with the Cincinnati Bengals, Kansas City Chiefs, and the Houston Texans. Smith made 109 catches for 973 yards, 10 touchdowns, and three tackles (3 solos) in 54 career games.

Collegiately, Smith spent three seasons at the University of Alabama (2016-18) with 58 catches for 838 yards, 10 touchdowns, one kick return for six yards, and one tackle (1 assist) in 38 games for the Crimson Tide. He is a member of the 2017 CFP National Championship team.

Jamir Jones is six foot three and weighs 237 pounds. The 27-year-old from Rochester, New York, signed with the Houston Roughnecks on July 24, 2024. In 2025, he made 30 tackles (20 solos, 10 assists), eight tackles for loss, and 3.5 sacks in ten games.

The Houston Roughnecks had re-signed him on July 16, 2025, before the league made changes for the 2026 season. Jones was drafted by the Louisville Kings in the 2026 UFL Draft.

The Houston Texans signed Jones as an undrafted free agent on May 4, 2020. He also spent time with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Los Angeles Rams, and Jacksonville Jaguars with 20 tackles (13 solos, 7 assists), two quarterback hits, and one pass breakup in 32 games.

The San Antonio Brahmas signed Jones on December 15, 2023. In 2024, he made two tackles (1 solo, 1 assist) in two games. The Brahmas released him on May 1, 2024.

Collegiately, Jones played four seasons at Notre Dame (2016-19) with 24 tackles (13 solos, 11 assists), one tackle for loss, and one fumble recovery in 35 games for the Fighting Irish.
