The Montreal Alouettes re-signed running back Travis Theis to a two-year contract extension through the 2027 season, signed defensive end David Perales to a two-year contract, and released wide receiver Austin Mack on Monday.
Travis Theis is five foot eleven and weighs 215 pounds. The 25-year-old from Pratt, Kansas, went undrafted in the 2025 NFL Draft. He attended the Denver Broncos rookie minicamp in 2025. The Montreal Alouettes signed Theis on May 22, 2025. In 2025, Theis had 70 carries for 365 yards, 19 catches for 162 yards, 19 kick returns for 364 yards, 13 kick returns for 175 yards, and one touchdown in 12 games.
Collegiately, Theis played six seasons at the University of South Dakota (2019-24) with 187 carries for 3,666 yards, 40 touchdowns, completing 1 of 6 passes (17%) for 25 yards, one interception, 111 catches for 950 yards, two touchdowns, eight kick returns for 190 yards, and two tackles (2 solos) in 56 games for the Coyotes.
In 2024, Theis had 187 carries for 1,172 yards, 19 touchdowns, 33 catches for 385 yards, and two touchdowns in 13 games for the South Dakota Coyotes. He was named First Team All-MVFC and Second Team All-American by AFCA.
He was named a four-time All-MVFC Honorable Mention, two-time MVFC Honor Roll, Second Team All-MVFC in 2023, First Team All-MVFC in 2024, and Second Team All-American by AFCA in 2024.
David Perales is six foot three and weighs 245 pounds. The 26-year-old from San Jose, California, attended the Pittsburgh Steelers rookie minicamp in 2025.
Collegiately, Perales spent one season at Merced College in 2017, where he made 64 tackles (32 solos, 32 assists), 17 tackles for loss, 14 sacks, three forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries, and 10 pass breakups in 11 games for the Blue Devils. He was named the Golden Coast Conference Defensive Player of the Year and was the All-Regional/NorCal Defensive Most Valuable Player.
Next, he transferred to Sacramento State University in 2018 with 23 tackles (16 solos, 7 assists), 7.5 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, one pass breakup, one forced fumble, and one blocked kick in 10 games for the Hornets.
Then, he transferred to Fresno State (2020-19) with 118 tackles (71 solos, 47 assists), 37.5 tackles for loss, 23 sacks, one interception for 21 yards, six pass breakups, nine forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries in 33 games for the Bulldogs. He was named a two-time Second Team All-Mountain West (2019-20) and First Team All-Mountain West in 2019.
Austin Mack is six foot two and weighs 205 pounds. The 28-year-old from Fort Wayne, Indiana, made 48 catches for 674 yards, two touchdowns, and one kick return for seven yards in 12 games in 2025.
Mack signed with the New York Giants as an undrafted free agent on April 29, 2020. He played 11 games in 2020 with seven catches for 91 yards. He also had stints with the Tennessee Titans and San Francisco 49ers.
The Montreal Alouettes signed Mack on May 4, 2023. In 2023, Mack made 78 catches for 1,154 yards and four touchdowns in 17 games. In the 110th Grey Cup over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. Mack made six catches for 103 yards and one touchdown, helping the Alouettes win the Grey Cup. He was named a CFL All-Star and CFL East All-Star in 2023.
The Alouettes released Mack on January 8, 2024. He signed with the Atlanta Falcons on January 10, 2024. Mack played one preseason game against the Miami Dolphins. The Falcons released him on August 12, 2024.
The Montreal Alouettes re-signed Mack on August 19, 2024. In 2024, Mack made 10 catches for 145 yards in three games.
Collegiately, Mack played three seasons at Ohio State (2017-19) with 77 catches for 1,035 yards and six touchdowns in 33 games for the Buckeyes.
