The Saskatchewan Roughriders re-signed kicker Michael Hughes on Friday.
Michael Hughes is six foot three and weighs 190 pounds. The 23-year-old from Charleston, West Virginia, Hughes attended the Cleveland Browns rookie minicamp in 2025. The Saskatchewan Roughriders signed Hughes to the practice squad on October 7, 2025. The Roughriders released him on November 17, 2025.
Collegiately, Hughes played four seasons at Appalachian State (2021-24), making 35 of 42 field goals (83.3%) with a long of 54 yards, made 120 extra points, 280 kickoffs for 16,999 yards (60.7 AVG), 116 touchbacks, and one tackle (1 solo) in 46 games for the Mountaineers.
He is the all-time leader in field-goal percentages. Hughes was named Second Team All-American and FBS Specials Teamer of the Year by the College Football Network in 2023.
