The Hamilton Tiger-Cats signed wide receiver Jerjuan Newton on Friday.
Jerjuan Newton is five foot 11 and weighs 194 pounds. The 24-year-old from St. Petersburg, Florida, signed with the Denver Broncos as an undrafted free agent on May 9, 2025. In 2025, he made five catches for 26 yards and one punt return for five yards in three preseason games. The Broncos released him on August 26, 2025.
Collegiately, Newton spent six seasons at Toledo (2019-24) with 206 catches for 2,942 yards, 32 touchdowns, three carries for two yards, 23 kick returns for 368 yards, one punt return for four yards, and two tackles (2 solos) in 62 games for the Rockets.
In 2022, he earned Second Team All-MAC after finishing the season with 53 catches for 830 yards, nine touchdowns, one carry for -1 yard, two kick returns for 17 yards, and one tackle (1 solo) in 14 games. The following season, he earned First Team All-MAC after finishing the season with 52 catches for 696 yards, nine touchdowns, one carry for two yards, nine kick returns for 122 yards, and one punt return for four yards in 14 games.
He concluded his collegiate career by earning his second consecutive First Team All-MAC after finishing the season with a career-high 72 catches for 1,048 yards, 11 touchdowns, one carry for one yard, and nine kick returns for 172 yards in 13 games.
Newton attended Clearwater Central Catholic High School, where he made 92 catches for 1,394 yards, 13 receiving touchdowns, 516 rushing yards, and 10 rushing touchdowns combined in his junior and senior seasons. The team reached the 2018 FHSAA Class 3A state semifinals when Newton was a senior.
