The B.C. Lions released linebacker Micah Awe on Friday.

Micah Awe is five foot eleven and weighs 228 pounds. The 32-year-old from Lagos, Nigeria, signed with the B.C. Lions on February 11, 2025. In 2025, Awe made 114 tackles, three tackles on special teams, two interceptions, and one forced fumble in 18 games. In the Grey Cup playoffs, Awe made nine tackles and one sack.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers signed Awe as an undrafted free agent on May 9, 2016. In 2016, he made six tackles (6 solos) in four preseason games. The Buccaneers released him on September 9, 2016. Next, the B.C. Lions signed Awe on November 29, 2017. He played two seasons with 85 tackles, 19 tackles on special teams, and one forced fumble in 23 games.

The Toronto Argonauts signed Awe on February 14, 2019. He played one season with 44 tackles, six tackles on special teams, one sack, one interception, and one forced fumble in ten games. The Ottawa Redblacks signed Awe on February 12, 2021. In 2021, he made 74 tackles, two tackles on special teams, three sacks, and two forced fumbles in 14 games.

The B.C. Lions signed Awe on May 21, 2022. He made one tackle in one game before requesting his release, which the Lions granted. Shortly after his release, he signed with the Montreal Alouettes on July 7, 2022. In 2022, he made 46 tackles, four tackles on special teams, one interception, and one forced fumble in 13 games for Montreal in 2022.

The Calgary Stampeders signed Awe as a free agent on February 17, 2023. In 2023, he made 134 tackles, six tackles on special teams, two sacks, three interceptions, and one forced fumble in 18 games. He was named a CFL West All-Star and CFL All-Star after the season. In 2024, Awe made 69 tackles and four tackles on special teams in 18 games.

Collegiately, Awe played four seasons at Texas Tech (2012-15) with 237 tackles (159 solos, 78 assists), 9.5 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, six pass breakups, and one forced fumble in 46 games for the Red Raiders. He was named honorable mention All-Big 12 by the conference coaches and All-Big 12 second team honoree by the Associated Press in 2015.
