The Montreal Alouettes signed defensive back Trey Jones III on Tuesday according to the CFL Transactions page.

Trey Jones III is six foot two and weighs 215 pounds. The 24-year-old from Wetumpka, Alaska, spent five seasons at Central Michigan University (2019-23) with 188 tackles (108 solos, 80 assists), 9.5 tackles for loss, three interceptions, eight pass breakups, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, and one blocked kick in 44 games for the Chippewas.

In 2022, he was named Fourth Team All-MAC by Phil Steele after finishing the season with a career-high 85 tackles (47 solos, 38 assists), 6.5 tackles for loss, two interceptions, five pass breakups, and one blocked kick in 11 games.

Then, he transferred to Texas A&M in 2024 with 16 tackles (9 solos, 7 assists), half a tackle for loss, and two pass breakups in 11 games for the Aggies.

Jones III attended Wetumpka High School, where he earned first-team 6A all-metro honors in 2018 and was named to the all-county team as a senior in 2019. He helped Wetumpka appear in the state championship game in 2017 and the state semifinals in 2018.
