The Hamilton Tiger-Cats re-signed offensive lineman Jakub Szott to a contract extension and signed wide receiver Trejan Bridges on Monday.

Jakub Szott is six foot five and weighs 305 pounds. The 27-year-old from Toronto, Ontario, signed with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats on February 11, 2025. In 2025, he started 14 games. Hamilton’s offense averaged 26.9 points per game, 376.4 net offense per game, 297.4 passing yards per game, 92.3 rushing yards per game, 46 touchdowns, and allowed 27 sacks, finishing the season with an 11-7 record.

The Ottawa Redblacks drafted Szott in the fourth round (29th pick) of the 2020 CFL Draft. He played 14 games playing left guard for the Redblacks in 2021. He was released by the Redblacks on August 15, 2022. Next, Szott signed with the Montreal Alouettes on October 18, 2022, and was placed on the practice squad. He was released by Monreal on May 9, 2023.

Then, he signed with the Blue Bombers on June 9, 2023, and was placed on the practice squad before being promoted to the active roster, where he played three games in 2023. After Winnipeg released him, the Saskatchewan Roughriders signed him on July 5, 2023, and he was placed on the practice squad.

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats signed Szott on August 17, 2023. He played seven games for the Ticats. Szott appeared in two preseason games in 2024, and the Ticats released him on June 1, 2024.

The Edmonton Elks signed Szott on August 12, 2024. In 2024, Edmonton’s offense averaged 28 points per game, 390.3 net offense per game, 131.4 rushing yards per game, 271.7 passing yards per game, and 29 sacks allowed, finishing 7-11 in the 2024 season.

Collegiately, Szott played four seasons at McMaster University (2016-19), playing 37 games at left guard with two tackles (1 solo, 1 assist). In 2019, McMaster averaged 28.5 points per game, 303.9 passing yards per game, 128.3 rushing yards per game, 432.1 total yards per game, and 23 touchdowns. He was named Second Team All-OUA in 2019.

Trejan Bridges is six foot one and weighs 185 pounds. The 25-year-old from Carrollton, Texas, began his collegiate career at Oklahoma (2019-20) with nine catches for 101 yards, two touchdowns, and eight tackles (5 solos, 3 assists) in 13 games for the Sooners.

Next, Bridges transferred to East Los Angeles College in 2022 with 59 catches for 762 yards, eight touchdowns, and one tackle (1 solo) in 11 games for the Huskies. Then, he transferred to the University of Central Arkansas in 2024 with 53 catches for 748 yards, six touchdowns, 19 punt returns for 198 yards, one touchdown, and one tackle (1 assist) in 12 games for the Bears.

Bridges was a former five-star recruit by Rivals and a four-star recruit by 24/7 Sports and ESPN. He attended Hebron High School, where he made 140 catches for over 1,900 yards and 30 touchdowns. In his final two seasons, Bridges had 56 carries for over 400 yards and seven rushing touchdowns. He was selected for the All-American Bowl.
