The Saskatchewan Roughriders re-signed linebacker Jameer Thurman to a one-year contract extension through the 2027 season and defensive back Tevaughn Campbell to a contract extension on Monday.
Jameer Thurman is six foot and weighs 227 pounds. The 30-year-old from Chicago, Illinois, re-signed with the Roughriders on January 13, 2025. In 2025, he made 86 tackles, one tackle on special teams, three sacks, three interceptions, and one forced fumble in 18 games, helping them win the 112th Grey Cup over the Montreal Alouettes. He was named a CFL West All-Star and All-CFL Team.
Thurman played two seasons with the Calgary Stampeders. He made 134 tackles, 29 tackles, three sacks, three interceptions, and three forced fumbles in 35 games. The Stampeders released him on January 3, 2019. Next, Thurman signed with the Chicago Bears on January 4, 2019. In 2019, he made 18 tackles (15 solos, 3 assists) in four preseason games. The Bears released him on August 31, 2019.
The D.C. Defenders (XFL) drafted Thurman in the sixth round (44th pick) of the 2020 XFL Draft. In 2020, he made 33 tackles (20 solos, 13 assists) and one interception for 46 yards in five games before the league suspended operations due to COVID-19. Then, Thurman signed with the Calgary Stampeders on January 19, 2021.
Thurman played an additional two seasons in Calgary with 135 tackles, two tackles on special teams, three sacks, three interceptions, and five forced fumbles in 29 games. He signed with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats on February 15, 2023. He made 98 tackles, five sacks, two interceptions, and two forced fumbles in 18 games.
The Saskatchewan Roughriders signed Thurman on February 13, 2024. In 2024, Thurman made 76 tackles, two tackles on special teams, one sack, two interceptions, one touchdown, and one forced fumble in 17 games. He was named a CFL West All-Star.
Collegiately, Thurman played four seasons at Indiana State (2013-16) with 340 tackles (172 solos, 168 assists), 28 tackles for loss, seven sacks, five interceptions for 70 yards, one touchdown, 14 pass breakups, seven forced fumbles, and five fumble recoveries in 48 games for the Sycamores.
Tevaughn Campbell is six foot and weighs 200 pounds. The 32-year-old from Scarborough, Ontario, signed with the Saskatchewan Roughriders on February 3, 2025. In 2025, he made 18 tackles, one tackle on special teams, six interceptions, and one touchdown in 13 games, helping the Roughriders win the 112th Grey Cup. He was named a CFL West All-Star and the All-CFL Team.
The Calgary Stampeders drafted Campbell in the third round (22nd Pick) in the 2015 CFL Draft. In 2015, he made seven tackles, one tackle on special teams, and one pass breakup in five games. The Calgary Stampeders traded Campbell to the Saskatchewan Roughriders on February 11, 2016, for a 2017 fourth-round draft pick.
In 2016, Campbell made 12 tackles, four tackles on special teams, one sack, and one interception in 12 games. On August 15, 2017, Campbell, along with two third-round picks for 2018 and 2019, was traded to the Montreal Alouettes for quarterback Vernon Adams Jr. and a 2018 fifth-round draft pick.
He played two seasons in Montreal with 34 tackles, four tackles on special teams, three interceptions, and two forced fumbles in 19 games. The Alouettes released him on January 3, 2019, and he signed with the New York Jets on January 4, 2019. In 2019, he made 10 tackles (5 solos, 5 assists) and three pass breakups in four preseason games.
The Jets released him on August 31, 2019. Campbell also spent time with the Los Angeles Chargers, Las Vegas Raiders, and the Jacksonville Jaguars. He played 37 regular-season games with 65 tackles (50 solos, 15 assists), one interception for six yards, one touchdown, seven pass breakups, three forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, and one touchdown. In 2024, he made one tackle (1 solo) in three preseason games. The Jaguars released him on August 25, 2024.
Collegiately, Campbell played four seasons at the University of Regina (2011-14) with 60 tackles (45 solos, 15 assists), two tackles for loss, one sack, 11 pass breakups, one forced fumble, two fumble recoveries, 20 kick returns for 423 yards, and 42 punt returns for 440 yards in 20 games for the Rams. He was named Second Team All-Canadian and a Canada West All-Star in 2013.
