The Miami Hurricanes (13-2) took on the Ole Miss Rebels (13-2) in the College Football Playoff Semifinal at the Vrbo Fiesta Bowl from State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona. The game was close all night with the Hurricanes leading the Rebels 17-13 at halftime. Ole Miss would score three points to make it 17-16 heading into the fourth quarter. That’s where the game got crazy.

Ole Miss kicker Lucas Carneiro made a 21-yard field goal to give them a 19-17 lead with seven minutes left in the game. With 5:04 left, Miami quarterback Carson Beck threw a 36-yard touchdown pass to Malachi Toney for a 24-19 lead.

Ole Miss came back when quarterback Trinidad Chambliss threw a 24-yard touchdown pass to Dae’Quan Wright, plus getting a two-point conversion for a 27-24 lead with 3:13 left. Carson Beck led the Hurricanes down the field in the final minutes before running for a three-yard touchdown to take a 31-27 lead with 18 seconds left.

Ole Miss quarterback Trinidad Chambliss attempted a Hail Mary, but the pass was incomplete, and the game was over. The Hurricanes defeated the Rebels 31-27 to head to the CFP National Championship Game for the first time since the 2001-02 season.

Miami’s offense had 459 yards (268 yards passing, 191 yards rushing), 28 first downs, and the team was penalized 10 times for 74 yards. Quarterback Carson Beck completed 23 of 37 passes (62.1%) for two touchdowns, one interception, 12 carries for -6 yards, and one rushing touchdown.

Running back Mark Fletcher Jr. had 22 carries for 133 yards, while CharMar Brown had 14 carries for 54 yards, one rushing touchdown, and two catches for seven yards. Wide receiver Keelan Marion made seven catches for 114 yards and one touchdown, while Malachi Toney made five catches for 81 yards and one touchdown.

Kicker Carter Davis made 1 of 2 field goals (50%) with a long of 38 yards, and made four extra points. The defense made 41 tackles, one tackle for loss, one sack, and six pass breakups.

Ole Miss had 398 yards on offense (277 yards passing, 121 yards rushing), 23 first downs, and the team was penalized four times for 34 yards. Quarterback Trinidad Chambliss completed 23 of 37 passes (62.1%) for 277 yards, one touchdown, and five carries for seven yards.

Running back Kewan Lacy had 11 carries for 103 yards and one rushing touchdown. Wide receiver De’Zhaun Stribling made five catches for 77 yards, while Dae’Quan Wright made three catches for 64 yards and one touchdown.

Kicker Lucas Carneiro made 4 of 5 field goals (80%) with a long of 58 yards, and made one extra point. The defense made 83 tackles, five tackles for loss, four sacks, one interception, and six pass breakups.
