The Texas State Bobcats (7-6) took on the Rice Owls (5-8) in the Lockheed Martin Armed Forces Bowl on Friday afternoon from Amon G. Carter Stadium in Fort Worth, Texas. The game was close in the first half, with the Bobcats leading the Owls 10-7 at halftime.

However, the second half was a different story. Texas State scored 31 unanswered points, while Rice scored three points. The Bobcats rout the Owls 41-10 for their third straight bowl victory.

Texas State’s offense had 436 yards (195 yards passing, 241 yards rushing), 24 first downs, and the team was penalized nine times for 87 yards. Quarterback Brad Jackson completed 17 of 24 passes (70.8%) for 173 yards, three touchdowns, 14 carries for 52 yards, and one rushing touchdown.

Rice’s offense had 195 yards (94 yards passing, 101 yards rushing), 12 first downs, and the team was penalized five times for 57 yards. Quarterback Patrick Crayton Jr. completed 4 of 9 passes (44%) for 70 yards, one touchdown, and one interception, while Lucas Scheerhorn completed 6 of 9 passes (66%) for 16 yards and six carries for -9 yards.

Running back Quinton Jackson had 16 carries for 78 yards, and wide receiver Aaron Turner made 10 catches for 24 yards and one touchdown. Kicker Enock Gota made one field goal for 28 yards and made one extra point. The defense made 65 tackles, nine tackles for loss, three sacks, and one pass breakup.
