Former Memphis Showboats long snapper Turner Bernard announced his retirement on Friday according to James Larsen.

Turner Bernard is six foot one and weighs 239 pounds. The 27-year-old from Phoenix, Arizona, played 10 games for the Showboats in 2025. Bernard helped kicker Matt Coughlin finish fourth in the league, making 16 of 18 field goals (89%), and punter Matt Mengel finished fifth with 39 punts for 1,595 yards (40.9), with a long of 69 yards, and seven from inside the 20-yard line in 10 games.

Turner signed with the Minnesota Vikings as an undrafted free agent on May 21, 2021. The Vikings released him on August 15, 2021. The New Orleans Breakers drafted Bernard in the seventh round (330th pick) of the 2022 USFL Supplemental Draft. Bernard played ten games for the Breakers in 2022. In 2023, he played ten games.

The Memphis Showboats drafted Bernard in the 2024 UFL Dispersal Draft. In 2024, Bernard played 10 games. He helped kicker Matt Coghlin finish fourth in field goals (16 of 17 attempts).

Collegiately, Bernard played five seasons at San Diego State (2016-20), playing 51 games for the Aztecs with three tackles (1 solo, 2 assists). He was named First Team All-Mountain by Phil Steele Magazine in 2019.
