The Calgary Stampeders re-signed linebacker Marquel Lee to a contract extension on Friday.
Marquel Lee is six feet three and weighs 241 pounds. The 30-year-old from San Diego, California, in 2025 made 26 tackles in six games.
The Oakland Raiders drafted Lee in the fifth round (168th pick) of the 2017 NFL Draft. He played four seasons in Oakland with 115 tackles (71 solos, 44 assists), six tackles for loss, and three quarterback hits in 45 games, of which 19 were starts. He also spent time with the Buffalo Bills.
The Arlington Renegades (UFL) signed Lee on January 22, 2024. In 2024, Lee made 54 tackles (32 solos, 22 assists), two tackles for loss, and one pass breakup in 10 games. The Calgary Stampeders signed Lee on September 29, 2024. Lee made five tackles and three tackles on special teams in three games.
Collegiately, Lee played four seasons at Wake Forest (2013-16) with 291 tackles (143 solos, 148 assists), 42 tackles for loss, 14.5 sacks, two pass breakups, and four forced fumbles in 46 games for the Demon Deacons. He was named First Team All-ACC by AP and Second Team All-ACC in 2016.
