The Utah Utes (11-2) played the Nebraska Cornhuskers (7-6) on Wednesday afternoon in the SRS Distribution Las Vegas Bowl from Allegiant Stadium. Utah led Nebraska 24-14 at halftime.
In the second half, they pulled away, scoring 20 points, while Nebraska scored eight points. The Cornhuskers were shut out in the third quarter. The Utes went to beat the Cornhuskers 44-22 to snap a five-game bowling losing streak.
Utah’s offense had 535 yards (310 yards passing, 225 yards rushing), 26 first downs, and the team was penalized four times for 25 yards. Quarterback Devon Dampier completed 19 of 31 passes (61.3%) for 310 yards, two touchdowns, 19 carries for 148 yards, and three rushing touchdowns.
Running back NaQuari Rogers had three carries for 11 yards and one rushing touchdown. Tight end Dallen Bentley made six catches for 106 yards and one touchdown, while J.J. Buchanan made four catches for 76 yards and one touchdown.
Kicker Dillon Curtis made one field goal for 28 yards and made 5 of 6 extra points. The defense made 73 tackles, six tackles for loss, three sacks, one interception, and one pass breakup.
Nebraska’s offense had 343 yards (182 yards passing, 161 yards rushing), 17 first downs, and the team was penalized five times for 35 yards. Quarterback T.J. Lateef completed 15 of 28 passes (53.6%) for 182 yards, one touchdown, one interception, 13 carries for 22 yards, and one rushing touchdown.
Running back Mekhi Nelson had 12 carries for 88 yards, one rushing touchdown, and three catches for 48 yards. Wide receiver Isaiah Mozee made four catches for 48 yards, while Jacory Barney Jr. made two catches for 21 yards and one touchdown.
Kicker Kyle Cunanan made two extra points. The defense made 83 tackles, five tackles for loss, three sacks, and four pass breakups.
