The Louisville Kings named former Louisville Cardinals quarterback Chris Redman the new head coach on Tuesday.
“Chris Redman is the perfect choice to be the head coach of the Louisville Kings,” said UFL Co-Owner Repole. “A native son of Louisville, Chris represents the heart and soul of the city. He will pair that passion with elite leadership at every level to build a championship culture for the Kings.”
Chris Redman is 48 years old and from Louisville, Kentucky. He most recently was the assistant/quarterbacks coach at Arlington/Midlothian High School from 2023 to 2024.
“I am incredibly grateful and excited for the opportunity to represent the new Louisville Kings,” said Redman. “Louisville is home. I’ve been fortunate to have so many people support me throughout my career, and I know they’ll be behind me and the Kings as we work to bring a championship to this city. I am ready to get started building a team and coaching staff with championship-level experience. We’re going to make Louisville proud.”
Chris Redman spent four seasons at Louisville (1996-99) completing 1,031 of 1,679 passes (61.4%) for 12,541 yards, 84 touchdowns, 51 interceptions, 167 carries for -412 yards, and three rushing touchdowns in 47 games for the Cardinals.
He received the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award in 1999, which is presented each year to the nation’s top senior quarterback. He was named the Conference USA Player of the Year in 1999 and was inducted into the Louisville Cardinals Ring of Honor.
The Baltimore Ravens drafted Redman in the third round (75th pick) of the 2000 NFL Draft. He also spent time with the New England Patriots, Tennessee Titans, Austin Wranglers of the Arena Football League, and the Atlanta Falcons.
Redman played eight seasons in the NFL, completing 286 of 500 passes (57.2%) for 3,179 yards, 21 touchdowns, 14 interceptions, and 33 carries for 25 yards in 30 games. He was the backup quarterback for the Baltimore Ravens when they won Super Bowl XXXV over the New York Giants. Redman retired from football in 2012.
In 2021, Redman was the General Manager of the Louisville Xtreme of the Indoor Football League. However, after five games into the season, the Xtreme’s membership in the IFL was terminated due to failing to maintain the league’s minimum obligations. The team went 0-5 before folding.
