The Ottawa Redblacks re-signed defensive back Adrian Frye to a two-year contract extension through the 2027 season on Monday. Frye was set to be a free agent in February.
Adrian Frye is six foot and weighs 205 pounds. The 27-year-old from Houston, Texas, made 37 tackles, one tackle on special teams, one sack, and three forced fumbles in 11 games.
The New Orleans Saints signed Frye as an undrafted free agent on May 5, 2023. In 2023, Frye made six tackles (5 solos, 1 assist) and one pass breakup in three preseason games. The Saints released him on August 29, 2023.
The Ottawa Redblacks signed Frye on January 24, 2024. In 2024, he made three tackles in two preseason games. The Redblacks released him on June 10, 2024. Ottawa re-signed Frye to the practice squad on July 15, 2024. He made six tackles and four tackles on special teams in five games.
Collegiately, Frye played five seasons at Texas Tech (2018-22) with 101 tackles (76 solos, 25 assists), 3.5 tackles for loss, seven interceptions for 55 yards, one touchdown, 26 pass breakups, one forced fumble, one blocked punt, and 28 punt returns for 146 yards in 51 games for the Red Raiders. He was named First Team All-Big 12 and Freshman All-American in 2018.
