The Montreal Alouettes re-signed linebacker Alexandre Gagné to a one-year contract extension through the 2026 season on Tuesday.
Alexandre Gagné is six foot one and weighs 230 pounds. The 33-year-old from St. Hubert, Quebec, re-signed with the Alouettes on December 30, 2024. In 2025, he made 25 tackles on special teams in 18 games.
The Saskatchewan Roughriders signed Gagné as an undrafted free agent in 2016, but he chose to return to the University of Sherbrooke for his final collegiate season. Gagné played three seasons in Saskatchewan with 43 tackles on special teams in 37 games.
The Montreal Alouettes signed Gagné as a free agent on February 12, 2020, but the season was canceled. In 2023, he made one tackle and 16 tackles on special teams in 18 games, helping Montreal win the 110th Grey Cup. In 2024, he made 12 tackles on special teams in 18 games.
In five seasons with Montreal, Gagné made one tackle and 86 tackles on special teams in 86 games.
Collegiately, Gagné played five seasons at the University of Sherbrooke (2012-16) with 167 tackles (90 solos, 77 assists), 16.5 tackles for loss, five sacks, two interceptions, one forced fumble, four forced fumbles, and five pass breakups in 27 games for the Vert et Or.
