The B.C. Lions re-signed defensive lineman Nathan Cherry to a two-year contract extension through the 2027 season on Monday.
Nathan Cherry is six foot three and weighs 245 pounds. The 27-year-old from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, made four tackles in 18 games in 2025. He also made three tackles in two Grey Cup Playoff games.
The B.C. Lions drafted Cherry in the first round (3rd pick) of the 2022 CFL Draft. In his rookie season, Cherry made seven tackles and one sack in 17 games, of which seven were starts.
In 2023, he made seven tackles and one sack in ten games before he suffered a season-ending knee injury. The Lions re-signed Cherry on February 11, 2024. In 2024, he made one tackle in one game.
Collegiately, Cherry played five seasons at the University of Saskatchewan (2016-19, 2021) with 45 tackles (38 solos, 18 assists), 12.5 tackles for loss, ten sacks, and one fumble recovery in 41 games for the Huskies. He was named a First Team All-Canadian in 2021.
