Western Michigan routs Kennesaw State to win the Myrtle Beach Bowl

The Western Michigan Broncos (10-4) took on the Kennesaw State Owls (10-4) on Friday afternoon in the Myrtle Beach Bowl from Brooks Stadium in Conway, South Carolina. The Broncos dominated this game by scoring 27 points in the first quarter. The only time Kennesaw State scored was six points in the third quarter. The Broncos went on to rout the Owls 41-6

Western Michigan’s offense had 423 yards (120 yards passing, 303 yards rushing), 18 first downs, and the team was penalized seven times for 75 yards. Quarterback Broc Lowry completed 12 of 19 passes (63.1%) for 120 yards, two touchdowns, one interception, and six carries for 23 yards.

Running back Jalen Buckley had eight carries for 174 yards and one rushing touchdown, while Devin Miles had 19 carries for 68 yards and one rushing touchdown. Tight end Blake Bosma made five catches for 44 yards and one touchdown, while Mareyohn Hrabowski made one catch for four yards and one touchdown.

Kicker Palmer Domschke missed a field goal and made 5 of 6 extra points. The defense made 78 tackles, nine tackles for loss, five sacks, two fumble recoveries, two interceptions, and two touchdowns.

Kennesaw State’s offense had 378 yards (209 yards passing, 169 yards rushing), 18 first downs, and the team was penalized eight times for 75 yards. Quarterback Amari Odom completed 18 of 35 passes (51.4%) for 209 yards, one touchdown, and eight carries for -29 yards.

Running back Chase Belcher had 16 carries for 148 yards and three catches for 18 yards. Wide receiver Javon Rogers made three catches for 111 yards and one touchdown. Kicker Britton Williams missed a field goal and an extra point. The defense made 72 tackles, five tackles for loss, one interception, one fumble recovery, and one pass breakup.
