The North Carolina State Wolfpack (8-5) took on the Memphis Tigers (8-5) on Friday afternoon in the Union Home Mortgage Gasparilla Bowl from Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida.
N.C. State dominated the first half, scoring 31 points, while the Tigers scored seven points. Both teams were shut out in the second half, and the Wolfpack went on to beat the Tigers 31-7 to win the Union Home Mortgage Gasparilla Bowl. It was N.C. State’s first bowl win since 2017.
N.C. State’s offense had 337 yards (221 yards passing, 116 yards rushing), 17 first downs, and the team was penalized six times for 56 yards. Quarterback C.J. Bailey completed 14 of 25 passes (56%) for 221 yards, two touchdowns, seven carries for no yards, and one rushing touchdown.
Running back Jayden Scott had 19 carries for 108 yards, while Wil Wilson had four carries for one yard and one rushing touchdown. Wide receiver Wesley Grimes made three catches for 48 yards and one touchdown, while Teddy Hoffmann made one catch for 40 yards and one touchdown.
Kicker Kanoah Vinesett made one field goal for 51 yards and four extra points. The defense made 72 tackles, 12 tackles for loss, two sacks, four pass breakups, one fumble recovery, and one interception.
Memphis’s offense had 303 yards (154 yards passing, 149 yards rushing), 17 first downs, and the team was penalized six times for 65 yards. Quarterback Brendon Lewis completed 14 of 25 passes (56%) for 106 yards, one touchdown, one interception, and 11 carries for 51 yards.
Running back Khyair Spain had nine carries for 65 yards and one catch for 15 yards. Wide receiver Marcello Bussey made three catches for 34 yards, while Jamari Hawkins made four catches for 32 yards and one touchdown.
Kicker Gianni Spetic made one extra point and missed a field goal. The defense made 59 tackles, seven tackles for loss, three sacks, and three pass breakups.
