The Arkansas State Red Wolves (7-6) took on the Missouri State Bears (7-6) on Thursday night in the Xbox Bowl from the Ford Center At The Star in Frisco, Texas. Arkansas State controlled the game for the first three quarters, leading 31-7 heading into the fourth quarter.
While the Red Wolves got three points, Missouri State stormed back to score 21 points. However, Arkansas State was able to hold on to beat Missouri State 34-28.
Arkansas State’s offense had 359 yards (288 yards passing, 71 yards rushing), 16 first downs, and the team was penalized 10 times for 110 yards. Quarterback Jaylen Raynor completed 17 of 31 passes (54.8%) for 288 yards, three touchdowns, and three carries for -11 yards.
Running back Kenyon Clay had 11 carries for 53 yards, while Devin Spencer had six carries for 36 yards and one rushing touchdown. Wide receiver Corey Rucker made six catches for 166 yards, one receiving touchdown, while Chauncy Cobb made four catches for 30 yards, one touchdown, and Jaylen Bonelli made two catches for 28 yards, and one touchdown.
Kicker Clune Van Andel made 2 of 3 field goals (66.7%) with a long of 54 yards. The defense made 77 tackles, 16 tackles for loss, eight sacks, four pass breakups, and two fumble recoveries.
Missouri State’s offense had 396 yards (349 yards passing, 47 yards rushing), 23 first downs, and the team was penalized 14 times for 115 yards. Quarterback Jacob Clark completed 25 of 35 passes (71.4%) for 349 yards, four touchdowns, and 14 carries for -24 yards.
Running back Shomari Lawrence had 16 carries for 57 yards and two catches for 17 yards. Wide receiver Dash Luke made seven catches for 169 yards and two touchdowns, while Jmariyae Robinson made four catches for 96 yards and one touchdown, and Ramone Green Jr. made three catches for 25 yards and one touchdown. Kicker Yousef Obeid made two extra points. The defense made 43 tackles, four tackles for loss, two sacks, and six pass breakups.
