The Saskatchewan Roughriders re-signed defensive back Jaxon Ford to a one-year contract extension on Thursday.

Jaxon Ford is six foot and weighs 200 pounds. The 25-year-old from Regina, Saskatchewan, made seven tackles and four tackles on special teams in 10 games, helping the Roughriders win the 112th Grey Cup over the Montreal Alouettes.

The Saskatchewan Roughriders drafted Ford in the second round (11th pick) of the 2023 Draft. In 2023, he made 12 tackles and five tackles on special teams in 15 games. In 2024, he made two tackles on special teams in six games.

Collegiately, Ford played four seasons at the University of Regina (2018-22) with 126 tackles (84 solos, 42 assists), 10.5 tackles for loss, half a sack, five interceptions for 50 yards, 12 pass breakups, two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, one touchdown, one blocked kick, four punt returns for 73 yards, and one kick return for seven yards in 28 games.

In his senior season, Ford made 31 tackles (20 solos, 11 assists), 3.5 tackles for loss, one interception, four pass breakups, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, one touchdown, one kick return for seven yards, and one punt return for 26 yards in eight games in 2022. He was named U SPORTS Second-Team All-Canadian and Canada West All-Star in 2022.
