The Saskatchewan Roughriders signed offensive lineman Dayton Black and defensive lineman Devin Adams on Wednesday.
Dayton Black is six foot six and weighs 295 pounds. The 26-year-old from Brandon, Manitoba, signed with the Ottawa Redblacks on June 9, 2025. Black played five games for Ottawa in 2025. The Redblacks released him on August 3, 2025.
The Hamilton Tiger-Cats drafted Black in the first round (6th pick) of the 2023 CFL Draft. In 2023, he dressed in 17 games, of which one was a start.
In 2023, Hamilton’s offense finished seventh in points per game (22.7), fifth in offensive points per game (20.9), fifth in offensive touchdowns (35), fourth in net offense per game (352.0), seventh in rushing yards per game (96.7), and fourth in sacks allowed (46).
In 2024, Black started on the six-game injured list before moving to the practice squad. The Ticats released him on October 2, 2024. He re-signed with the Ticats on October 5, 2024, and spent nine days on the practice squad. He did not play the 2024 season, and the Ticats released him again on October 15, 2024.
He Hamilton Tiger-Cats re-signed Black on November 21, 2024. In 2025, he attended training camp and was released on May 14, 2025.
Collegiately, Black played three seasons at the University of Saskatchewan (2018-22), playing 30 games for the Huskies. He was named a Canada West All-Star (2022). He began his career as a defensive lineman before switching to the offensive line in 2021.
Devin Adams is six foot one and weighs 285 pounds. The 27-year-old from Pembroke Pines, Florida, attended the New England Patriots rookie minicamp in 2024.
The Winnipeg Blue Bombers signed Adams on May 25, 2024. In 2024, Adams made 16 tackles, one tackle on special teams, and four sacks in 14 games. In 2025, Adams made four tackles and two tackles for loss in two preseason games. In the regular season, he made nine tackles and two sacks in 10 games. The Blue Bombers released him on November 2, 2025.
Collegiately, Adams played three seasons at Peru State College (2021-23) with 156 tackles (94 solos, 62 assists), 59 tackles for loss, 20.5 sacks, five pass breakups, two forced fumbles, three kickoffs for 117 yards, 131 punts for 5,225 yards (39.9 AVG) with a long of 65 yards, six touchbacks, 20 fair catches, 49 punts from inside the 20-yard line, 19 from 50-plus yards, completed 6 of 7 passes (86%) for 161 yards, and 11 carries for 97 yards in 31 games for the Bobcats.
Adams was named a two-time First Team All-Conference as a punter and defensive lineman, a two-time Defensive Player of the Year, a two-time First Team All-American, and a Third Team All-American Award.
