The B.C. Lions re-signed linebacker Adam Konar to a two-year contract extension through the 2027 season on Wednesday.
Adam Konar is six foot two and weighs 225 pounds. The 32-year-old from Vancouver, British Columbia, signed with the B.C. Lions on February 11, 2025. In 2025, Konar made two tackles and nine tackles on special teams in 14 games.
The Edmonton Elks drafted Konar in the third round (25th pick) in the 2015 CFL Draft. In his first stint, Konar played three seasons with 83 tackles, ten tackles on special teams, two sacks, three interceptions, and two forced fumbles in 29 games, including winning the 2015 Grey Cup championship over the Ottawa Redblacks 26-20.
Next, Konar signed with the B.C. Lions on May 20, 2019. He played two seasons with 12 tackles, 21 tackles on special teams, and one sack in 31 games. The Edmonton Elks re-signed Konar on February 8, 2022. In 2022, Konar made 52 tackles, five tackles on special teams, two sacks, one interception, and two forced fumbles in 18 games this year in Edmonton. In 2023, he made 73 tackles and one tackle for loss in 18 games.
The Calgary Stampeders signed Konar on January 22, 2024. In 2024, he made three tackles and seven tackles on special teams in 17 games.
Collegiately, Konar played one season at the University of British Columbia in 2011 with 47 tackles (35 solos, 12 assists), two tackles for loss, one interception, and three pass breakups in eight games for the Thunderbirds. He was named Rookie of the Year.
Next, Konar played for the Langley Rams (CJFL) in 2012 with 16 tackles, five sacks, three pass breakups, three interceptions, one touchdown, and four forced fumbles. He won the B.C. Football Conference’s Outstanding Defensive Player award.
Then, he transferred to the University of Calgary in 2013. He missed the season with a torn ACL. In 2014, Konar made 57 tackles (42 solos, 15 assists), 1.5 tackles for loss, one interception, three pass breakups, and one forced fumble in nine games for the Dinos.
