The Saskatchewan Roughriders re-signed fullback Albert Awachie to a contract extension on Tuesday.

Albert Awachie is six foot three and weighs 262 pounds. The 33-year-old from Toronto, Ontario, made one catch for six yards, one tackle, and one tackle on special teams in 14 games in 2025.

The Saskatchewan Roughriders signed Awachie as an undrafted free agent on May 26, 2017. Awachie played six seasons in Saskatchewan with nine catches for 74 yards, 15 tackles on special teams, one forced fumble, and four kick returns for 41 yards in 43 games. In 2023, Awachie made three catches for 24 yards, one tackle on special teams, and two kick returns for 25 yards in 14 games.

The Toronto Argonauts signed Awachie on February 13, 2024. In 2024, Awachie made one catch for five yards and one tackle on special teams in seven games. The Argonauts released him on August 6, 2024. The Saskatchewan Roughriders re-signed Awachie on August 7, 2024. Awachie made one catch for one yard, one tackle, and one kick return for 15 yards in three games.

Collegiately, Awachie played four seasons at the University of Toronto (2013-16) with 14 catches for 145 yards, and 25 tackles (22 solos, 3 assists) in 22 games for the Varsity Blues.
