The Edmonton Elks re-signed kicker Vincent Blanchard to a contract extension through the 2027 season, and signed defensive back Jaaron Joseph on Monday according to the CFL Transactions page.
Vincent Blanchard is six foot one and weighs 210 pounds. The 27-year-old from Quebec, Quebec, made 35 of 45 field goals (77.8%), with a long of 52 yards, made 39 of 30 extra points, 68 kickoffs for 4,576 yards (67.3 AVG), with a long of 92 yards, punting the ball 12 times for 524 yards (43.7 AVG), and one tackle on special teams in 18 games in 2025.
The Edmonton Elks drafted Blanchard in the fourth round (31st pick) in the 2024 CFL Draft. He attended the New England Patriots rookie minicamp in 2024. In 2024, Blanchard made 1 of 2 field goals (50%) with a long of 47 yards, and four kickoffs for 272 yards in two preseason games. The Elks released him on June 1, 2024.
Edmonton re-signed Blanchard on October 19, 2024. In 2024, he had five kickoffs for 319 yards (63.8 AVG), with a long of 69 yards, made one field goal for 19 yards, and made one of two extra points in one game.
Collegiately, Blanchard played three seasons at the University of Laval (2021-23), making 37 of 50 field goals (74%) with a long of 47 yards and making 68 of 68 extra points (100%) in 21 games for the Rouge Et Or.
In 2023, Blanchard made 16 of 17 field goals (94%) with a long of 46 yards and made 20 of 20 extra points (100%) in seven games as he was named Second Team All-Canadian. In 2022, Blanchard made 15 of 19 field goals (79%) with a long of 47 yards and made 20 of 20 extra points, helping Laval win the 2022 Vanier Cup.
Jaaron Joseph is six foot two and weighs 209 pounds. A native of Nyack, New York, Joseph attended the Carolina Panthers rookie minicamp in 2025.
Collegiately, Joseph spent three seasons at Southern Connecticut State University (2020-22). In 2022, Joseph made 21 tackles (12 solos, 9 assists), four pass breakups, and one forced fumble in 11 games for the Owls.
Then, Joseph transferred to Emporia State University (2023-24). In 2023, he had a career-high 63 tackles (42 solos, 21 assists), five tackles for loss, four interceptions for 86 yards, one touchdown, 10 pass breakups, and one forced fumble in 12 games for the Hornets. He was named Second Team All-MIAA.
In 2024, Joseph made 54 tackles (43 solos, 11 assists), 3.5 tackles for loss, two interceptions for 45 yards, 18 pass breakups, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery in 11 games. He was named First Team All-Super Region 3 and First Team All-MIAA.
