The Ottawa Redblacks re-signed quarterbacks Matt Morrissey and Hajj-Malik Williams on Tuesday.
Matt Morrissey is six foot four and weighs 229 pounds. The 25-year-old from Elmhurst, Illinois, went undrafted in 2025. The Ottawa Redblacks signed Morrissey to the practice squad on September 2, 2025. The Redblacks released him on October 25, 2025.
Collegiately, Morrissey played one season at Trinity Valley Community College in the Spring 2021 season, completing 124 of 190 passes (65.3%) for 1,523 yards, 13 touchdowns, two interceptions, 39 carries for 107 yards, and two rushing touchdowns in eight games for the Cardinals.
Next, he transferred to the University of Northern Iowa (2021-22), completing 10 of 29 passes (34%) for 126 yards, three interceptions, and four carries for 13 yards in five games for the Panthers.
Then, he transferred to Western Illinois in 2023, completing 207 of 339 passes (61%) for 2,014 yards, 13 touchdowns, seven interceptions, 116 carries for -192 yards, and two rushing touchdowns in 11 games for the Leathernecks. He was an All-MVFC Honorable Mention and an All-MVFC All-Academic Honorable Mention.
Morrissey concluded his collegiate career at Eastern Kentucky University in 2024, completing 187 of 326 passes (57%) for 2,088 yards, 14 touchdowns, eight interceptions, 91 carries for 297 yards, three touchdowns, and one tackle (1 solo) in 13 games for the Colonels.
Hajj-Malik Williams is six foot one and weighs 205 pounds. The 23-year-old from Atlanta, Georgia, attended the Las Vegas Raiders rookie minicamp in 2025. The Ottawa Redblacks signed Williams to the practice squad on September 18, 2025. The Redblacks released him on October 1, 2025.
Collegiately, Williams played five seasons at Campbell University (2019-23), completing 662 of 1,072 passes (62%) for 8,236 yards, 58 touchdowns, 28 interceptions, 417 carries for 1,600 yards, 24 rushing touchdowns, three catches for 73 yards, three touchdowns, and five tackles (5 solos) in 41 games for the Fighting Camels.
Williams was named First Team FCS Freshman All-American by HERO Sports, Big South’s Offensive Freshman of the Year, Big South Freshman of the Year by Phil Steele, and Third Team All-Big South by Phil Steele.
Then, he transferred to UNLV in 2024, completing 150 of 252 passes (60%) for 1,941 yards, 19 touchdowns, five interceptions, 161 carries for 851 yards, nine rushing touchdowns, and one tackle (1 solo) in 13 games for the Rebels. He was named Second Team All-Mountain West.
