The Repco Supercars Championship continued the final weekend of the season with Race 33 of the BP Adelaide Grand Final from the Adelaide Street Circuit in Adelaide, South Australia. Broc Feeney started the race on the pole with Aaron Cameron starting second.
On the opening lap, Aaron Cameron took the lead at Turn 4, and Ryan Wood took second from Feeney. Feeney experienced engine issues early in the race, but he reported that the car was “coming good.” On the eighth lap, Anton De Pasquale was the first to pit road.
Not long after, the leader, Aaron Cameron, went for a slide through Turn 3, and his day was done. Ryan Wood was the new leader with Broc Feeney second, and Will Brown third.
Later, Thomas Randle and Chaz Mostert were fighting for second place when Mostert ran out of road and grazed the wall. While the two were in a battle, Wood extended his lead to 4.5 seconds. Chaz Mostert was hit with a bad sportsmanship flag for exceeding track limits at the Senna Chicane. He came to pit road on lap 18.
Once pit stops were complete, Ryan Wood regained the lead with Feeney, Brown, Mostert, and De Pasquale. When the leaders passed NASCAR driver Austin Cindric, Mostert tried to pass him, but Mostert clipped Cindric’s car. Cindric suffered damage and finished in 23rd place.
Late in the race, Mostert went to pit road, where the team taped his left front. Broc Feeney pitted with 29 laps to go, and came ahead of Ryan Wood to keep the lead. On the final lap, Broc Feeney won his 14th race of the season by 16.873 seconds. It was also the 26th win of his career.
Ryan Wood opened the door for Chaz Mostert to take second place and keep his championship hopes alive. Wood finished in the third place, Will Brown, and Kai Allen rounded out the top five. Thomas Randle, Cam Waters, James Courtney, and Brodie Kostecki completed the top ten.
The final race of the season concludes with Race 34 on Sunday. Coverage in the United States begins at 5:45 pm on YouTube.
