The Calgary Stampeders signed offensive lineman Matthew Stokman and defensive back Ashton Miller-Melancon on Thursday.

Matt Stokman is six foot three and weighs 334 pounds. The 24-year-old from Winnipeg, Manitoba, was drafted by the Calgary Stampeders in the seventh round (56th pick) of the 2025 CFL Draft. In 2025, Stokman played two preseason games. He was placed on the retired list on May 31, 2025, as he was returning to school.

Collegiately, Stokman played six seasons at the University of Manitoba (2019-25), playing 44 games, of which 34 were starts, including 32 at guard. In 2024, Manitoba averaged 30.67 points per game, 252.7 rushing yards per game, 205.33 passing yards per game, 439.2 total yards per game, 31 touchdowns, and allowed 12 sacks, finishing 7-2 for the season.

In 2025, Stokman started eight games at right guard. Manitoba’s offense averaged 21.67 points per game, 235.56 passing yards per game, 185.8 rushing yards per game, 401.1 total yards per game, 22 touchdowns, and allowed 12 sacks, finishing 4-5 for the season. He was named a U Sports First Team All-Canadian and a Canada West All-Star.

Ashton Miller-Melancon is six foot two and weighs 203 pounds. The 24-year-old from Montreal, Quebec, was drafted by the Calgary Stampeders in the eighth round (65th pick) of the 2025 CFL Draft. In 2025, Miller-Melancon played two preseason games with no stats. He was placed on the retired list on May 31, 2025, as he was returning to school.

Collegiately, Miller-Melancon played five seasons at Queen’s University (2021-25) with 197 tackles (138 solos, 58 assists), 3.5 tackles for loss, 21 interceptions for 267 yards, one touchdown, 39 pass breakups, two forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries in 52 games for the Gaels.

In 2025, Miller-Melancon made 47 tackles (30 solos, 17 assists), five interceptions for 82 yards, one touchdown, and 12 pass breakups in 12 games. He was named a four-time OUA All-Star and First Team All-Canadian.
