The Edmonton Elks re-signed defensive linemen Robbie Smith and Jordan Williams on Thursday.
Robbie Smith is six foot one and weighs 245 pounds. The 28-year-old from Brampton, Ontario, signed with the Edmonton Elks on February 12, 2025. In 2025, he made 16 tackles in 10 games before an injury ended his season.
The Toronto Argonauts drafted Smith in the second round (9th pick) in the 2019 CFL Draft. Smith played five seasons with 126 tackles, 30 tackles on special teams, 20 sacks, one interception, and three forced fumbles in 72 games. He is a two-time Grey Cup champion.
In 2024, he made 31 tackles, five tackles on special teams, and six sacks in 17 games for the Argonauts. In the 111th Grey Cup, Smith made two tackles and one sack, helping Toronto beat the Winnipeg Blue Bombers 41-24 to win their second Grey Cup title in three seasons.
Collegiately, Smith played four seasons at Wilfrid Laurier University (2015-18) with 98 tackles (62 solos, 36 assists), 26.5 tackles for loss, 19.5 sacks, six pass breakups, four forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery in 37 games for the Golden Hawks.
In his final season, Smith had 26 tackles (23 solos, 3 assists), seven tackles for loss, four sacks, two pass breakups, and one forced fumble in eight games. He was named a two-time Second Team OUA All-Star and helped the Golden Hawks win the 2016 Yates Cup.
Jordan Williams is six feet five and weighs 285 pounds. The 26-year-old from Virginia Beach, Virginia, made 10 tackles, one fumble recovery, and one touchdown in ten games this year for the Toronto Argonauts. The Argonauts released him on August 26, 2025. The Edmonton Elks signed Williams on September 4, 2025. Williams made 13 tackles, one fumble recovery, and one touchdown in seven games.
The Miami Dolphins signed Williams as an undrafted free agent on May 13, 2022. In 2022, he made one tackle (1 assist) in one preseason game. The Dolphins released him on August 16, 2022.
The Memphis Showboats (then the Tampa Bay Bandits) signed Williams on December 13, 2022. In 2023, he made 22 tackles (13 solos, 9 assists), six tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks, and two pass breakups in nine games. He became a free agent after the 2023 season.
The Toronto Argonauts signed Williams on January 24, 2024. In 2024, he made 12 tackles and two sacks in nine games, helping the Argonauts win the 111th Grey Cup over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
Collegiately, Williams played four seasons at Clemson (2017-20) with 41 tackles (19 solos, 22 assists), 9.5 tackles for loss, four sacks, two pass breakups, and one forced fumble in 38 games for the Tigers. Williams was a member of the 2019 CFP National Championship team, when they beat Alabama 44-16.
Then, he transferred to Virginia Tech in 2021 with 33 tackles (10 solos, 23 assists), four tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, two quarterback hits, and one forced fumble in 11 games for the Hokies.
