The Edmonton Elks have re-signed defensive back Kordell Jackson to a one-year contract extension through the 2027 season on Wednesday according to Dan Ralph.

Kordell Jackson is five foot ten and weighs 185 pounds. The 26-year-old from Birmingham, Alabama, made 78 tackles, two sacks, and one interception in 18 games for the Elks in 2025.

Jackson attended the Baltimore Ravens rookie minicamp in 2022. He would later be drafted by the Orlando Guardians in the 2023 XFL Supplemental Draft. However, the Guardians were not included in the XFL and USFL merger that formed the United Football League (UFL).

He made 79 tackles (58 solos, 21 assists), tying the league with eight interceptions for 92 yards, three touchdowns, 23 pass breakups, and one forced fumble in 16 games. He was named IFL Defensive Player of the Year and All-IFL First Team after the season.

The Edmonton Elks signed Jackson on February 7, 2024. In 2024, he made 51 tackles, four interceptions, and two forced fumbles in 16 games.

Collegiately, Jackson played five seasons at Austin Peay (2017-21) with 216 tackles (155 solos, 61 assists), 32.5 tackles for loss, 10.5 sacks, 11 interceptions for 174 yards, two touchdowns, 33 pass breakups, three forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries, one blocked punt, and two punt returns for four yards in 52 games for the Governors. He was named three-time First Team All-OVC and two-time All-American.
