The B.C. Lions released running back Jordan Terrell, wide receivers Hergy Mayala and Isaiah Winstead, offensive linemen Alex Berwick, Brandon Yates, and Tyran Walker-Hunt, defensive lineman Anthony Bennett, linebackers Jeremy Lewis and Devin Richardson, defensive back Marquise Bridges, and kicker Ross Bolger from the practice squad on Sunday according to the CFL Transactions page. These players became free agents after the Lions season ended on Saturday night.
Jordan Terrell is five foot ten and weighs 210 pounds. The 24-year-old from Ramseur, North Carolina, re-signed with the B.C. Lions on November 29, 2024. In 2025, he had 11 carries for 49 yards (4.5 AVG) and one tackle on special teams in two preseason games. The Lions released him on May 31, 2025. The Lions re-signed him to the practice squad on June 9, 2025.
The B.C. Lions signed Terrell on May 16, 2024. He played in two preseason games with seven carries for 35 yards and earned a spot on the practice squad.
He dressed for three regular-season games but did not see any action and spent the rest of the season on the practice squad. The Lions released him on November 3, 2024.
Collegiately, Terrell played four seasons at Barton University (2020-23) with 969 carries for 5,487 yards, 44 touchdowns, 39 catches for 320 yards, and two touchdowns in 37 games for the Bulldogs. In 2023, Terrell had 268 carries for 1,732 yards, 11 touchdowns, 16 catches for 191 yards, and one touchdown in 11 games. Terrell was 22 yards shy of the Division II single-season record.
Hergy Mayala is six foot one and weighs 208 pounds. The 30-year-old from Congo, who later grew up in Montreal, Quebec, signed with the Toronto Argonauts on February 11, 2025. In 2025, Mayala made three catches for 40 yards in seven games. The Argonauts released him on August 7, 2025. The B.C. Lions signed Mayala to the practice squad on August 11, 2025.
The Calgary Stampeders drafted Mayala in the first round (8th pick) of the 2019 CFL Draft. In his rookie season, Mayala caught 38 passes for 562 yards and five touchdowns for the Stampeders. In 2021, Mayala caught 29 passes for 284 yards and three tackles in 13 games. He became a free agent after the 2021 season. The Montreal Alouettes signed him on February 8, 2022.
In 2022, Mayala made 33 catches for 409 yards and two touchdowns in 18 games for the Alouettes before he was released. He signed with the New Orleans Breakers on February 15, 2023, but was released on April 10, 2023.
The Montreal Alouettes re-signed Mayala on May 4, 2023. In 2023, he made seven catches for 118 yards in ten games. The Hamilton Tiger-Cats signed Mayala as a free agent on October 6, 2023. He made two tackles on special teams in two games.
The Edmonton Elks signed Mayala on April 9, 2024. In 2024, he made 41 catches for 503 yards, five touchdowns, and one tackle in 12 games. He missed most of the season with a calf injury.
Collegiately, Mayala played four seasons at the University of Connecticut (2015-18) with 113 catches for 1,352 yards, 12 touchdowns, and four tackles (3 solos, 1 assist) in 43 games for the Huskies.
Isaiah Winstead is six foot four and weighs 213 pounds. The 26-year-old from Richmond, Virginia, re-signed with the Arlington Renegades on October 1, 2024. In 2025, he made 31 catches for 307 yards in 10 games. He became a free agent after the 2025 season. The B.C. Lions signed Winstead to the practice squad on September 22, 2025.
The San Francisco 49ers signed Winstead as an undrafted free agent on May 12, 2023. In 2023, he made four catches for 54 yards in two preseason games. The 49ers released him on December 7, 2023.
The Arlington Renegades signed Winstead on January 20, 2024. In 2024, he made 12 catches for 175 yards and two touchdowns in seven games. The Renegades released Winstead on August 1, 2024, and he signed with the New York Jets on August 2, 2024. He appeared in three preseason games and was targeted four times with no catches. The Jets released him on August 27, 2024.
Collegiately, Winstead played two seasons at Norfolk State (2017-18) with 83 catches for 977 yards, eight touchdowns, and two tackles (1 solo, 1 assist) in 22 games for the Spartans. In his sophomore year, Winstead led NSU in all major receiving categories, including catches (54), yards (633), and touchdowns (5).
Next, Winstead transferred to Toledo (2020-21) with 63 catches for 949 yards and four touchdowns in 19 games for the Rockets. He was named Third Team All-MAC in 2020.
Then, Winstead transferred to East Carolina in 2022 with 88 catches for 1,085 yards and six touchdowns in 13 games for the Pirates. He was named Third Team All-AAC by Phil Steele in 2022.
Alex Berwick is six foot two and weighs 306 pounds. The 25-year-old from Ottawa, Ontario, was drafted by the B.C. Lions in the seventh round (59th pick) of the 2025 CFL Draft. In 2025, Berwick dressed for six games as a backup left guard and right guard.
Collegiately, Berwick played five seasons at Western University (2019-24), playing 41 games for the Mustangs. In 2024, Western averaged 49.5 points per game, 227.8 rushing yards per game, 264.8 passing yards per game, 492.5 total yards per game, and 43 touchdowns, finishing 7-1 for the season.
Brandon Yates is six foot four and weighs 210 pounds. A native of Middleton, Delaware, Yates went undrafted in 2025. The B.C. Lions signed Yates to the practice squad on September 8, 2025.
Collegiately, Yates played five seasons at West Virginia (2020-24) after sitting out as a redshirt freshman in 2019. He played both guard and tackle in 65 games for the Mountaineers. In 2024, West Virginia averaged 29.2 points per game, 210.3 passing yards per game, 193.7 rushing yards per game, 404 yards per game, 47 touchdowns, and allowed 27 sacks, finishing 6-7 for the season.
Yates was named a two-time All-Big 12 Honorable Mention in 2020 and 2023, Second Team Academic All-Big 12 Conference in 2023, and First Team Academic All-Big 12 Conference.
Tyran Walker-Hunt is six foot seven and weighs 312 pounds. A native of Boykins, Virginia, Hunt signed with the San Antonio Brahmas on September 23, 2024. He attended training camp and was released on March 20, 2025. The B.C. Lions signed Walker-Hunt on March 28, 2025. In 2025, he played in two preseason games. He spent the regular season on the practice squad.
Hunt signed with the Memphis Showboats on May 23, 2023. He played three games for the Showboats. In 2023, Memphis was ranked sixth in passing yards per game (172.4), sixth in passing touchdowns (10), sixth in rushing yards per game (85.9), and seventh in rushing touchdowns (4).
Hunt signed with the Frisco Fighters (IFL) in 2024 and played 12 games. In 2024, Friso’s offense averaged 127.1 passing yards per game, 129.6 average rushing yards per game, 56.6 points per game, 76 touchdowns, and 196 first downs. The Fighters made it to the IFL playoffs but were eliminated by the Massachusetts Pirates in the first round. He was named First Team All-IFL in 2024.
Collegiately, Hunt played three seasons at Maryland (2018-20), playing eight games for the Terrapins. Then, he transferred to Old Dominion (2021-22), playing left guard in 23 games for the Monarchs. In 2021, Old Dominion’s offensive line helped Blake Watson become the second player in ODU history to rush for 1,000 yards in a season.
The Monarchs ranked fifth in C-USA with 158.3 rush yards per game. They also averaged 27.61 points per game, 214.8 passing yards per game, 373.1 total yards per game, 37 touchdowns, and allowed 32 sacks, finishing 6-7 for the season and appearing in the Myrtle Beach Bowl.
In 2022, Old Dominion’s offensive line helped Blake Watson rush for a school-record 259 yards and three touchdowns in the win at Coastal Carolina. Old Dominion averaged 19.50 points per game, 92.3 rushing yards per game, 247.2 passing yards per game, 339.4 total yards per game, 27 touchdowns, and allowed 35 sacks, finishing 3-9 for the season.
Anthony Bennett is six foot three and weighs 230 pounds. The 29-year-old from Weston, Florida, signed with the Montreal Alouettes on February 18, 2025. He attended training camp and was released on May 10, 2025. The Ottawa Redblacks signed Bennett on June 17, 2025. In 2025, he made two tackles on special teams in two games. The Redblacks released him on July 16, 2025.
The B.C. Lions signed Bennett to the practice squad on August 11, 2025. He appeared in four games for the Lions with one tackle on special teams.
The Winnipeg Blue Bombers drafted Bennett in the first round (8th pick) of the 2023 CFL Draft. He signed with the Blue Bombers on May 5, 2023. In 2023, he made eight tackles and three tackles on special teams in 18 games. The Blue Bombers released him on May 12, 2024.
Bennett played two seasons at the University of Regina (2021-22) with 63 tackles (39 solos, 24 assists), 20 tackles for loss, 11 sacks, one interception for 28 yards, one touchdown, two pass breakups, one forced fumble, and two fumble recoveries in 14 games.
In 2022, Bennett made 38 tackles (22 solos, 16 assists), 12.5 tackles for loss, nine sacks, one interception for 28 yards, one touchdown, one pass breakup, and one fumble recovery in nine games. He was named U SPORTS First-Team All-Canadian and Canada West All-Star in 2022.
Jeremy Lewis is six foot two and weighs 237 pounds. The 24-year-old from Greenville, South Carolina, attended the New York Jets rookie minicamp in 2024. The B.C. Lions signed Lewis on April 21, 2025. In 2025, he made six tackles, one tackle for loss, and one tackle on special teams in two preseason games. He spent the majority of the season on injured reserve.
Collegiately, Lewis played five seasons at East Carolina University (2019-23) playing tight end and linebacker with 150 tackles (81 solos, 69 assists), 23.5 tackles for loss, 11 sacks, two pass breakups, three forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, one kick return for four yards, eight catches for 54 yards, and one touchdown in 54 games for the Pirates.
In 2023, he was named Third Team All-AAC after with 40 tackles (24 solos, 16 assists), 8.5 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, one pass breakup, one forced fumble, and two fumble recoveries in 12 games.
Taylor was named a three-time First Team All-Sun Belt Conference. During his time at App State, the Mountaineers went 52-14 with three Sun Belt titles (2017-19), an additional Sun Belt East Division title (2021), and four bowl wins (2017-20).
Devin Richardson is six foot two and weighs 229 pounds. The 25-year-old from Klein, Texas, signed with the B.C. Lions on December 20, 2024. In 2025, he made five tackles and two tackles on special teams in two preseason games. He spent the regular season on the practice squad.
The Seattle Seahawks signed Richardson as an undrafted free agent on May 13, 2024. In 2024, Richardson made three tackles (2 solos, 1 assist) in two preseason games. The Seahawks released him on October 8, 2024.
Collegiately, Richardson played three seasons at New Mexico State (2018-20) with 78 tackles (28 solos, 50 assists), 4.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, one pass breakup, and three forced fumbles in 15 games for the Aggies. He was named the Football Writers Association of America Freshman All-American in 2019, making him the 18th Aggie player in history to receive All-American honors.
Next, he transferred to Texas (2021-22) with 15 tackles (8 solos, 7 assists) and 1.5 tackles for loss in 20 games for the Longhorns. He was named to the Academic All-Big 12 First Team in 2022. Then, he transferred to Washington State in 2023 with 62 tackles (31 solos, 31 assists), 2.5 tackles for loss, one sack, and one forced fumble in 12 games for the Cougars.
Marquise Bridges is five foot eleven and weighs 190 pounds. The 28-year-old from Minneapolis, Minnesota, made three tackles and one tackle on special teams in two preseason games. In 2025, Bridges made 16 tackles and two interceptions in six games. The Blue Bombers released him on August 6, 2025.
The B.C. Lions signed Bridges to the practice squad on September 10, 2025. He played in one regular-season game against the Saskatchewan Roughriders in Week 21 with one tackle.
Bridges worked out for the Minnesota Vikings and San Francisco 49ers. In 2022, he signed with the Northern Arizona Wranglers (IFL) with 35 tackles (22 solos, 13 assists), half a tackle for loss, three interceptions for 21 yards, ten pass breakups, two fumble recoveries, one forced fumble, and one safety in 16 games helping the Wranglers win the 2022 IFL Championship over the Quad City Steamwheelers 47-45.
In 2023, Bridges played for the Bay Area Panthers (IFL), with 78 tackles (38 solos, 40 assists), two tackles for loss, five interceptions for 38 yards, 13 pass breakups, nine catches for 124 yards, and one touchdown in 16 games. He helped the Panthers win the 2023 IFL Championship Game over the Sioux Falls Storm 51-41.
The Winnipeg Blue Bombers signed Bridges on January 25, 2024. In 2024, he made seven tackles and one forced fumble in eight games.
Collegiately, Bridges played four seasons at North Dakota State (2016-19) with 87 tackles (58 solos, 29 assists), four tackles for loss, five interceptions for 46 yards, 26 pass breakups, three forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, and three kick returns for 50 yards in 49 games for the Bison. He was named Second Team All-MVFC and helped the Bisons win three FCS championships.
Ross Bulger is five foot eleven and weighs 207 pounds. The 24-year-old from Laois, Ireland, was drafted by the B.C. Lions in the first round (4th pick) of the 2025 CFL Global Draft. In 2025, he spent the season on the practice squad.
Bulger played two seasons at Idaho State (2023-24) punting the ball 94 times for 4,033 yards (42.9 AVG), with a long of 66 yards, four touchbacks, 24 fair catches, 28 from inside the 20-yard line, 23 from 50-plus yards, 48 kickoffs for 2,655 yards (55.3 AVG), and 32 touchbacks in 23 games for the Tigers.
In 2024, Bulger punted the ball 46 times for 2,051 yards (44.6 AVG) and 13 kickoffs for 764 yards (58.8 AVG) with six touchbacks in 12 games for the Tigers. He finished the season 13th in the nation in net punting.
Before coming to America, Bulger played Gaelic football as a full forward for Club Killeshin and County Laois. Bolger was named to the NFL International Pathway program for 2025.
