The Rutgers Scarlet Knights (4-5, 1-5) visited Memorial Stadium on Saturday afternoon against the Illinois Fighting Illini (6-3, 3-3). Rutgers had 312 yards on offense (253 yards passing, 59 yards rushing), 19 first downs, and the team was penalized three times for 20 yards in a 35-13 loss to the Fighting Illini.

Rutgers quarterback Athan Kaliakmanis completed 25 of 45 passes (55%) for 253 yards, one touchdown, and seven carries for -7 yards. Running back Ja’shon Benjamin had eight carries for 37 yards, while Antwan Raymond had 10 carries for 29 yards.

Wide receiver K.J. Duff made nine catches for 93 yards and one touchdown, while Ian Strong made six catches for 85 yards. The defense allowed 445 yards (235 yards passing, 210 yards rushing), 26 first downs, with 58 tackles, four tackles for loss, four pass breakups, one sack, and one interception. Kicker Jai Patel made 2 of 2 field goals with a long of 40 yards.

Rutgers returns to SHI Stadium next Saturday against Maryland at 2:30 pm on FS1.
