The Temple Owls (5-3, 3-1) visited Chapman Stadium on Saturday afternoon against the Tulsa Golden Hurricanes (2-6, 0-5). Temple had 447 yards (267 yards passing, 180 yards rushing), 22 first downs, and the team was penalized seven times for 87 yards in a 38-37 win in overtime. It was Temple’s second straight win.
Quarterback Evan Simon completed 24 of 35 passes (68.5%) for 267 yards and five touchdowns. Running back Hunter Smith had 10 carries for 92 yards, while Jay Ducker had 16 carries for 78 yards.
Wide receiver Kajiya Hollawayne made 10 catches for 85 yards and three touchdowns, while Peter Clarke made three catches for 71 yards. The defense allowed 436 yards (296 yards passing, 140 yards rushing), 25 first downs, with 75 tackles, seven tackles for loss, one sack, two pass breakups, and one fumble recovery.
